I pick Spurs-Mavs.
Dirk getting 20+ free throws is a tragedy.

Look, spurs fans have gotten over the mavs-spurs series.
Most spurs fans are now believe that it was "small-ball" that did them in.
While most, not all, mav fans truely believe that the league screwed them over.
Eventually, mav fans will get over it.

Ultimately, the Spurs shot 12 more free throws in the WCSF than the Mavs did, or 1.7 more per game; the Heat shot 52 more in the Finals than the Mavs did, or 8.7 more per game.
The NBA gave the Mavs a number of chances they didn't deserve against the Spurs, but the Spurs still should have won the series on Tim Duncan's brilliance (and the superstar calls he gets) had Manu not been a fucking idiot. The Finals series was just fixed. Which is worse? I don't know.

This is the way I see it...their we're a handful of "questionable" calls, but a LOT of opportunities the Mavs had to make a basket, and they couldn't...same for the Spurs.
Let's talk about this next season...what's done is done.

spurs weren't jobbed unless your willing to admit the mavs were jobbed. That works both ways buddy. Anyways why the hell would u want to start this argument all over again.
Get used to it -- this is the way it's always going to be in the playoffs from here on.
Used to be in the playoffs -- "Let 'em play." "No cheap fouls." "Let the players decide it."
But with the new "touch foul" rules, there will be nothing but controversy for every champ. Just the way it is in international basketball, a controversy a day in that format.
This may be one of the "unintended consequences" that the league didn't forsee.

The refs sucked in both series...in fact in every series I watched. NBA officiating sucks, period.
The Mavs lost because they choked...Dirk disappeared....the refs didn't beat them.

Wow... I can't believe that foul on Nowitzki at the end of game 6. I thought it was awful live, but after seeing a replay I'm in shock they gave Wade the call when all he did was go run and smack Nowitzki with his right arm. That was disgusting, and on par with the horrible call on Bruce in game 4.

I was too, pissed after seeing Wade "punch" him, but the Mavs had their chances...

Yeah ,how many of those were momentum changing calls in the middle of a big run and how many of them were bullshit garbage time calls that wouln't have made a difference in the game? That's the question genius!

The Refs in the Spurs-Dallas Series b/c they determined the outcome
spurster
06-26-2006, 09:52 AM
Basically, the refs suck. All the superstars (TD included) get way too many marginal calls. The refs call way too many fouls based on players' reactions rather than seeing the foul in the first place. The refs often won't call fouls on obvious physical contact, which leads to a lot more flopping. The refs make too many makeup calls.
Yes, Wade smacking Dirk and then a foul on Dirk was simply amazing. I guess the refs heard the contact and assumed that it was Dirk doing it.

I concur. My point was that the refs interfered with the Spurs series but controlled the Miami series. In one case, they created the illusion of fairness but made key calls against the Spurs that cost them several games; in the other there wasn't even that illusion, but the refs were consistently biased.

If you guys are gonna bitch about the refs, then why is it a problem when Dallas fans do? I personally am more angry with the Mavs than the refs, but that's just me...we had our chances.
