It appears more likely that shooting guard J.R. Smith will be traded. His father, Earl, said Sunday that J.R. will not participate on the Hornets' summer league team in Las Vegas because he believes a trade is possibly in the works.

Smith, who has spent most of the offseason working out in Houston, could not be reached for comment.

"If a trade happens, it happens," Earl Smith said. "It doesn't matter to us really, but he's not playing in summer league. Why play if he's going to be traded?"

Wtf, his father?

Is he his secretary? First he tells us his body fat % (which wasn't accurate) now he's telling is if/when he is playing in summer league games. Thanks, dawg.

Good lord people, he's what? 20?

Better his dad helping him make decisions for him than his posse.

WTF is with meddling Sports dads named Earl?

I don't think this is about being a dick, I think it's about moving N.O. towards a trade. The relationship with Scott is obviously broken, and maybe JR wants a change of scenery.

The only team ESPN lists as a trade partner is the Spurs, even though I have heard a couple of other rumors involving him.
