"San Antonio doesn't want Luis Scola" -- That, the title of a newspaper article sending shockwaves throughout Argentina and Europe. In it, sports agent Claudio Villanueva confirms that one of the best big man outside the NBA won't be leaving Spain's Tau Ceramica to join either the Spurs or any of several NBA teams that reportedly wanted to acquire his rights.

Villanueva tells the Argentinean newspaper La Nacion that his client will stay in Spain at least one more year.

The Argentine forward, Luis Scola, is expected to announce as much during a team press conference in Spain.

For the third consecutive year, both Scola and San Antonio fans are left disapointed that the Spurs, who hold Scola's NBA rights, "showed no interest in signing him" and had little success in drumming up good trade offers from other teams.

The frustration, was vented through his sports agent as he spoke to the newspaper. "In the country of freedom, Luis is a prisoner", pointed Villanueva. "The Spurs won't use him or trade him, and they're preventing him from playing in the NBA".

According to the report, to Villanueva, it's clear that "San Antonio doesn't want Luis Scola. It's evident they don't appreciate him as a player despite being one of the best in Europe and winner of many titles and individual awards. The truth is, it is very strange, why Gregg Popovich wouldn't want him."
According to the agent, Scola was prepared to pay his own way out of a buy-out from the Spanish team to the tune of about $4 million in order to accept offers from either the Chicago Bulls or Utah Jazz, who had expressed an interest in signing him. "Besides that," added Villanueva. "Phoenix and Memphis, that had asked about him."

While the Spurs have remained mum about the entire situation until now, the agent says San Antonio was asking for too much in return for Scola's trade rights. According to the report, the teams who wanted Scola would have had to give up too much money and several first round picks for next draft.

Although he will remain in Europe, his agent makes it clear that Scola has not given up on his dream to play in the NBA.

"Luis is young, he is 26, and he can wait," said Villanueva.

Another way to love Scola's agent. Man, I hate him!
