View Full Version : Report: Vujcic not coming to Spurs

One player that Maccabi Tel Aviv will not be losing is their starting center Nikola Vujcic. Media reports in the States have linked him to the San Antonio in the past few days, but what they are unaware of is the fact that Vujcic resigned with Maccabi this summer and has no out clause for the NBA. It’s widely accepted that his body is regardless not in optimal physical condition to play an 82-game season, which is why he was left off these overseas free agent reports.

Good.

Spurs didn't need to get even softer.

That another Center off the list..
Damn the way things are looking, J. Collins on the spurs roster is a good possibility. Not because the spurs want him, but because they wont have much of a choice.

That's fine, I just want to find out what happened to Baston.

Isn't he in the Spurs Summer Leagues? I must have missed something.

Yeah, I'm wondering that too. Baston could have been the athletic 4 that this team needed.

Where'd he go?

He was reportedly supposed to be, but he's not on the list the Spurs released.

Someone on an international forum had said he had an out until August 1 but I guess that was wrong. Now, why would the media report that the Spurs were interested in some guy who can't even get out of his contract?

Is "stupidity" too obvious an answer?

I'm not sure DraftExpress is correct here. I can't link, but I remember seeing a couple other places saying Vujcic clearly had an out clause, and still has.

That said, I have no idea where Baston disappeared to.

You didn't understand why the Spurs had him on the Summer League team, now you wonder where hes at?

Is R.C. on the phone to the Admiral trying to coax him out of retirement while Mahimni develops?

A bit off this subject, but since the Spurs were scouting talent on Maccabi Tel Aviv, I'm curious to know their thoughts on Maceo Baston. I've seen him name pop up a few times. Are they or were they interested in him?

No official word that I know of, but he was listed on the summer league at one point and time. Kind of weird forcing one of the best players in Europe to go through summer league - Jasikevicius, Macijauskas, and Anthony Parker never were - but now he's not there at all.

Nikola Vujcic, who has extended his deal with the Israeli champs, has until Saturday to use an opt-out close and join an NBA team.

I long for the days where I imagined a offensively creative, jumpshooting, accomplished, no defense playing Vujcic might be coming to the Spurs.

So he's still not coming.

I believe the date for him to sign with an NBA team was July 15.

I like his game, but for our puposes a guy like Dalibor Bagaric might do better if we're going the foreign route.

Croation papers are reporting, that Vujcic is thinking about going to the NBA, because of safty reasons. New, dengerous situation in Israel can turn around some things for the Spurs.

I think his NBA window is until July 15, sendman, which is tomorrow.

You have to be nuts to choose to play int'l ball if you are capable of spending it over here in the NBA (despite the police state the u.S.A. has become).
