I was just watching a replay of WOAI news from like 10 at night and it something about Alonzo Mourning telling Miami papers he's not made a decision about where he's going next year. Pop said he'd be very surprised if he signed with the Spurs...but didn't Pop say that about Michael Finley? CIA...

that's when the spurs realized that francisco elson for half the mle was their only other option and offered zo the full mle for 2 seasons.

at this point, i hope so.

I'd take Alonzo's old ass over any other free agent big man right now.

Oh god I pray Zo comes here if it prevents F. Elson coming here.

I don't think the Spurs are seriously going after Elson. It's too widely reported. That's not very Spurs-esque of the FO.

You don't know much about Alonzo, do you? :lol

I agree, though, he's probably squeezing the Heat for extra cash.

I don't see why you guys hate on Francisco.

I would rather him start then Javtokas. Let Javtokas prove he can start, and slide him into the lineup...then bring Francisco off the bench. You guys are praying not to have Francisco here like there's some plethera of big men available right now.

He's a big.

He's physical.

He can mix it up.

He can block shots.

Just stfu and let the Spurs bring him in for part of the MLE or whatever they're considering signing him for. Calling the Spurs front office "CIA" and saying the spurs aren't doing shit, then bitch when they are doing shit, is utterly retarded. Go apply for a front office job, until then please shut the fuck up.

I don't know the history, but I know post-Charlotte there were some 'loyalty' issues with Zo.

Zo's not going anywhere...he's gonna either stay in Miami or retire.

BTW, is Peyton definitely retiring also this season?

because zo is a greedy bast... full mle vs nba minimum, zo just can't help himself. For that reason alone i hope he stays in miami...

He's 30 years old. Damn, is that what we really want? another old aging player on this team? :madrun The Spurs need to get younger and unless Pop has the Fountain of Youth in his office, I doubt Elson helps us much as far as that goal. Screw Elson, take a chance at Jackie Butler, at least the guy is young, has potential, and can score with his back to the basket. Elson is not even worthy of being called a "scrub". He is way below scrub caliber.

I've heard that Peyton is leaning toward playing another season. He might be waiting to see what Zo does. The Heat will have problems replacing Zo if he decides to retire. He's the perfect backup center.

If Petyon's on the Heat, there's no way they win another championship.

He did manage to hit two huge shots in two different games during the finals. He was worthless the rest of the time but he was clutch when it mattered. I agree though, he's about done and I don't see them winning another championship with him having to play significant minutes.

mabber -- I meant to be joking about Petyon Manning.

Gary Payton did hit some nice shots in the playoffs, you're right.

Oh, I get it now...I missed your Colt reference and didn't realize I spelled name wrong :lol . I still stand by my statement though. Heat would do well to replace him at this point.

Alonzo Mourning '07 = Kevin Willis '03

In that case he wouldn't make it to the all star break.

Probably true. Zo could probably start but I think his minutes would need to be limited to 20-25 per game.

Maybe you need to think about what it means to be a professional athlete with one kidney and unable to take anti-inflammatories. That means fewer minutes than last year, not more. Expecting him to play starter minutes when you lost both Rasho and Nazr is delusional.
