I was hoping you were being facetious. But that's what the Mavs get for throwing all their FA eggs in one basket.

A bench warmer. We go from Mike James to Greg Buckner? I guess the free agent market is not good this year.

Then it's over for us if the Mavs sign Buckner.. didn't he miss the ball at first base to give the Mets the World Series title?

Yeah, but how many pieces were you really wanting the Mavs to add? Look at last season's FA crop and the acquisition of Diop. Everyone glossed over it like it was no big deal and that panned out quite nicely. The position players are set, they just need shooters at the 1-3 position. I wouldn't mind Buckner, Reggie Evans and possibly Chucky Atkins.

He's better than Griffin. He's a good defender like Griffin but he shoots much better. He's a little taller I believe. I was sorry to see him go when he was in Dallas before.

^ he's actually listed at 6'4, an inch shorter than griffin, but your right he is a better shooter and a great defender.

I'd settle for Buckner or Jurmaine Jones

Well he looks taller than Grif to me. I know he plays D against 3's more than Griffen does. Maybe that's why I thought he was slightly taller.

Jumaine Jones would be an awesome backup at SF, but is he available? Somebody fill me in.

Lol i remember one time, years back when the mavs were struggling to find any big men worth a shit, they actually had him guarding duncan lol. Huge height disadvantage but he actually did a decent job, he goes all out and doesnt back down from a challenge.

I heard the Mavs were going to sign Greg Buckner, resign Adrian Griffin and continue to look for a backup point guard. They can do a sign & trade with Van Horn in helping land another PG. It's looking like Marshall & Armstrong are out.

The Nuggets have an all-points bulletin out for 3-point shooters. Their search got a little harder early this morning when their free agent guard, Greg Buckner, agreed to sign with the Dallas Mavericks. Buckner will receive at least three years guaranteed, with the two sides working on details for two more years. .

"I'm happy," Buckner said today. "It was my first choice to go to Dallas. It's crazy it worked out."
Aside from serving as a defensive specialist, the two-guard represented Denver's top perimeter threat on a team that finished last in the NBA in 3-point shooting last season. Buckner's .354 3-point percentage may not have been phenomenal, but his 86 threes easily led the team.

Buckner spent two years in Denver after arriving from Philadelphia before the 2004-05 season. He averaged 6.7 points per game last year.

But with the Nuggets having committed approximately $140 million to Carmelo Anthony and Nene this summer, Buckner said he and his agent agreed that his return would be a longshot.

"My time in Denver was great. It got me out of a bad situation with Philly," he said. "They wanted to take

He was a damn good player when he was with the Mavs prior to Phily. I don't recall him being a good 3pt shooter though. Just a tough guy that was a good defender.

yeh, his D is good and im sure he wont play as much as he did in Denver. Our Sg rotation was weak and he got decent minutes. He wont need to in Dallas.

Ya never know. Avery might start him if he wants to keep Terry at PG. He started Griffin for his defense most of last season. Either way, Buckner will probably get 15-20 minutes per game and maybe even less depending on Ager's development.

We'll see. Buckner is actually an upgrade over Griffin. If Griffin resigns, he won't play much.

And, if they do land both, it will be the second time they've been teammates in Dallas.

very good deal, i'm happy he's once again part of the team...i like griff a lot and i'd hate to see him go but i could see it going either way...i don't think the mavs are looking for much more unless they can get some kind of trade for kvh, maybe with marshall/powell/p-pod

We would offer this guy the Full MLE and have the option for the contract to last 5 yrs but we wouldnt give Mike James who is way more proven and valuable than Buck, a 4th year on his contract. This makes no sense. I'd much rather have on my team James and Griff than Buck and Griff(almost 2 identical players) WTF!!!

The Mavs offered James at least 4 yrs according to Donnie (on the radio yesterday)...he wouldn't say exactly what they offered, but they were surprised he chose MN...
