Update: Arenas said he is considering opting out of his contract after the 2007-08 season if the team does not appear to be building toward a championship level, the Washington Times reports.
Recommendation: The team took one step toward reassuring Arenas on Wednesday when it extended coach Eddie Jordan's contract for another three seasons. The Wizards have made the playoffs two straight years, but were eliminated in the first round by Chicago in 2006 after advancing to the second round in 2005. And they've been very quiet in the player acquisition market this summer, so Arenas still needs to see more organizational commitment.
