A tidbit to add on the Nuggets. It looks like they are going to trade the non guarenteed contract of Howard Eisley to Chicago for J.R. Smith. Eisley will get cut and then Chicago will sign f.a. Griffen from Dallas. The extra contract of Smith means most likely they will not match Elson with the Spurs. Interestingly, Smith is a slasher who likes to shoot jump shots. The problem is Denver is loaded with these type of players and still does not address their outside shooting needs.

dbestpro- Interesting news. Getting JR Smith (and his contract) for so cheap maybe leads them in the opposite direction. Resigning Elson because they can afford it.

I think their trading Martin and/or losing Evans might have as much of an influence.

Right Mr Body..if this goes down, it means there is more of a chance that Denver WILL match the offer.

Losing Evans could cause a Denver match for sure. Losing Martin and keeping Evans and Elson would be their greatest desire.

nah. Elson isn't being resigned (mainly due to likely trades coming up). Evans is going to be.

Some pretty big moves on the table at the moment, just waiting to see which one goes down :smokin

If elson isnt resigned does that mean he's a spur no matter what?

that makes no damn sense

Interestingly, Smith is a slasher who likes to shoot jump shots

that makes no damn sense

1. He is good at attacking the basket.
2. He thinks he is better at shooting jump shots.
3. He makes shots when he attacks the basket.
4. He misses jump shots.
5. He shoots too many jump shots when he should attack the basket.
6. Does it make damn sense now?

That suggests he's soft and doesn't like contact unless he can get a big dunk.

KILL- yes, if he's not resigned he's automatically a Spur.

Evans at the MLE? That's steep. The Spurs have set a good price for Elson. 2/$6M, was it?

i dont know if Evans will get the full MLE but he may, he is much more of a tradeable asset than Elson if need be.

Id love for them to keep them both but apparently there is some big stuff in the works that will mean that the Nuggets may soon be taking on more salary than they send out in a trade.

its a good price for Frankie, im glad he is getting paid after playing for quite cheap with the Nuggets

If he were a tradeable asset, wouldn't there be more interest in him as a FA? Or is it just his contract demands that have held things up so far?

Yes. If the Nuggets don't match, then Elson is a Spur.
