Nash has fun with charity

The National Basketball Association All-Star Game never came to Vancouver before the Grizzlies left for Memphis in 2001.
Tomorrow night's Steve Nash Foundation Charity Classic at General Motors Place could be the next best thing.
The Phoenix Suns' guard and two-time NBA most valuable player from Victoria has confirmed Toronto Raptor Morris Peterson and ex- Raptors Mike James (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Charlie Villanueva (Milwaukee Bucks) to play in the exhibition. They'll be joined by Toronto's Denham Brown, a 2006 Seattle SuperSonics' draft choice. Also making the trek up Interstate 5 from the Jet City is Rashad Lewis.
Others include: Michael Finley (San Antonio Spurs), Walter McCarty (Los Angeles Clippers); Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury (New York Knicks); Devon Harris (Dallas Mavericks); Drew Gooden (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Fred Jones (Indiana Pacers). More players are expected to be named today.
University of Victoria's Ken and Kathy Shields will act as coaches.
Tipoff is 7 p.m. Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster. The game will feature Victoria's Nelly Furtado as emcee, Susan Aglukark will sing O Canada and Bedouin Soundclash will play a halftime concert.
No tickets are required for tomorrows 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. FanFest on Beatty Street. Nash and other players will be available for autographs.
