I'm curious what kind of expectations people have of Scola and Javotkas to consider if they have a good or bad tournament. I know there are many who discount FIBA performance vs NBA performance, which are admittedly different. On the other hand there is obviously a correlation, or else we wouldnt see NBA players in FIBA games and viceversa.

So what kind of numbers do Spurs fans expect from Scola and Javotkas this WC?

Obviously neither is coming this season, I'm just curious as to what people expect from them in light of the expectations Butler is raising

Guessing ZhiZhi played beaucoup garbage time.

Guessing wrong.

After the first quarter : China 15 - Lithuania 19
ZhiZhi : 7 pts / 4 rbds in 7 min

At the halftime : China 40 -Lithuania 51
ZhiZhi : 17 pts / 7 rbds in 15 min

Javtokas stats at the halftime : 2 pts / 5 rbds /3 pf in 14 min

Don't forget that it's international BB : 10 min quarters and you foul out at 5 PF.

Don't know if javtokas has played the whole game on ZhiZhi but the PF/Foul against hints that he has played (and fouled) a lot against ZhiZhi

Sucks for Robertas that he's struggling. Looks like by that other thread that he's struggling today vs France too.

And Tony absolutely sucked last summer, too. How much did that tell you about his season?

Tony was injured last summer.

You do know these are warm up games. Not taken too seriously in Europe. Check back at the World Championships.

Interesting, the final score is almost a repeat of the 2004 Olympic Quarterfinal (Lithuania 95 China 75).

You don't get "owned" in hoops when your team wins by 21 and you only have to play 19 minutes!

RIF, both played heavy minute in the first half while the game was still close.

As I said earlier in this thread :

ZhiZhi : 17 pts / 7 rbds in 15 min
Javtokas : 2 pts / 5 rbds /3 pf in 14 min

it may have carried a little more weight if china wasn't getting dismantled themselves.

I know you understood my point. What a player does with his national team in a few warm-up games is not indicative of how he would play in the NBA.

I've understand your point but Parker was a quite bad example and I only agree to a certain extend with it.

Does playing poorly in NT warm-up games means you will suck in nba ? No

But a player that plays great with his NT (even for warm up games) has more chance to suceed in nba than a player who plays poorly with his NT. It's not a coincidence if best players for France in this friendly tournament were parker and Diaw.

Warm-up NT games give hints but no answers.

That was the claim- and we both agree that it is incorrect.

It wasn't my claim.

my claim is : Javtokas not doing good with his NT (even in warm up games) isn't a good sign that he will doing good in nba.

hehe things getting heated already.

lets ignore the warm up games, so that we can make honest predictions. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Scola will have the better tourney.

He should have something along 16ppg, 5.5rb, 3 ast, 2TO, 55%FG, 25mpg Anything less and I'll be disappointed

I think Javotkas will get 9ppg, 7reb, .8blk and 1TO in 25mpg though i get the feeling i might be a little too optimistic with this.
