View Full Version : Organizing a team for the Fall league.

T Park

Im organizing a softball team that starts play in November.

Id like to see all who would play on it, so that I can start organizing things now, cause the months of September and October are a bitch for me.

entry fee for yourself is not needed.

Im going to inquire Sports Chalet here in California about their uniforms in the price, and after I get how big they are and what not, get your sizes from you guys to get them ordered.

These jerseys that will be ordered are gonna be like the batting practice jerseys you see MLB teams use, its a mesh thats cool, but has stitching.

Hope everyone is able to play, can't wait to get home and play as Im gonna have a total blast.

Sincerely,

Eric :)

I'd like to play.

Depending on the dates/times though. But if you get someone good who wants to play, feel free to put them ahead of me. I'm a Bball/Football guy...closest I've come to playing softball is the batting cages.

I think it starts November 15th.

Please Dont, Id love it if you played, hit the batting cages and get ready, Ill be hitting the cages on tuesday with my Easton!!

1. How the fuck do you know my name.

2. Im paying the team entrant fee yeah. I was hoping that would attract more players.

I might be able to do this, by when do you need to know for sure? I do seem to go out of town often but fairly sure I should be in town and not travelling around that time. Also, I should get to a batting cage and make sure I don't suck. But I know that female players are at a premium so if you need me, I will surely try.

Count me in T-Park. The only way I will back out is if my knee gets worse or the nights and location are out of my league. If the nights are okay and its not too far, I'm in.

The one thing to remember is that the Fall league is 5 weeks of double headers, not 10 weeks of single games like the one we're in now (If you're talking about wanting to play at Ancira anyway). Chris sounded somewhat interested...but I'm not completely sure I should commit until school starts and I get a handle on my kids' activities to make sure there are no conflicts. :)

Just an F.Y.I....I think you're actually supposed to hit the softballs, not the cages.

Consider that my free softballers' tip of the day.

Since its November and not hot, I don't mind the double headers. And I could care less if you take my picture if I play, as long as you don't take a pic of the moment I strike out :lol

Our last game is 8/27 ... fortunately our game this week is at 9:30pm, so it won't be so hot. The killers are the 4:30 games, but we only have one more of those. :)

I had to play triple headers one time in December. That was the last time. Will never do it again. I would freeze and couldn't run.

You pick a day you want to play on ... and all of your games will be on that day. I don't think Saturdays are available, though ... so if you pick a weekend, it'd have to be Fridays or Sundays.

T Park
07-27-2006, 12:29 PM

Fridays. :D

Kori Ellis
07-27-2006, 12:34 PM
Who the hell wants to waste Friday night playing softball?!

Anyway ... TPark remember that you can only play 10 people at once. So 14 (7 guys/7 girls) is about the maximum you should have for your team.

Hey folks on the current team, is therea rule that it has to be 7 and 7?

Or can it have more guys than gals?

SpursWoman
07-28-2006, 12:30 PM
On the field, you cannot have more males than females.

There are also all-men recreational leagues there, too, if not enough girls want to play. :)

Hey folks on the current team, is therea rule that it has to be 7 and 7?

The reason I suggested 7 and 7 is so that you can have alternates in case people can't make it one week.

Each week 6 girls and 6 guys can play. (5 of each on the field and 1 of each as DH -- DH is not a sub for the pitcher, it's just an extra batter.)

T Park
07-28-2006, 12:37 PM
Thanks ladies.

Hopefully I can get 7 ladies in addition to 7 guys.

So far I think Ive got, 5 guys and, 0 ladies :lol

That is a good question.

Dang thats 9 guys, if LJ plays.

Man now im confused as to what to do :lol

Kori Ellis
07-28-2006, 12:46 PM
Well I'm pretty sure Blaze won't play. He'll probably have a job in another city. So even if LJ plays, you'll have eight guys.

You could just field a Men's team instead of a co-ed team, but I don't know how hardcore those are.

Probably best to just try to recruit some girls.

T Park
07-28-2006, 12:48 PM
Yeah 8, so Id need 6 ladays.

Ok Melmart, if you play, that means I need 5 more.

The registration for guys is closed already? DAMN! I am reasonably sure I can play, but if you can't find other girls or a chance to register for the guys-only league is re-opened, then I will step aside. Sound good?

T Park
07-28-2006, 03:09 PM
Alrighty.

Ok, looks like Ive gotten so much interest from all guys, looks like Ill stick with it being an all guy's league.

I know theres a certain caped crusader wants to play, so Im gonna add him, and make it 8 guys :)

Need what, 5 more guys?

Kori Ellis
07-28-2006, 03:15 PM
I'm guessing 10 guys play per team in an all-male league. So you just have to figure out how many extras you are going to carry.

T Park
07-28-2006, 03:18 PM
Well Im discussing it with some others, i know this sounds flaky but Im gonna stick witht he Coed.

Im just gonna have to be an ass and decide who will play and who wont

For the ladies side Ive got just Melmart so far.

Katy?

Ginofan?

Spurswoman?

If you wonderfull ladies would join that would leave me 3 short, and maybe I could scrounge some others up to play.

I think my cousin used to play softball, I think Ill hit her up too.

Kori Ellis

.

You will probably rarely have to decide that. If you have seven or eight guys, probably most weeks only six of them will be there. People always have conflicts here and there.
