A fugitive task force caught up with a 40-year-old San Antonio woman who was first reported missing and later sought on criminal charges.
Naomi Fuentes was arrested today outside Niagara Falls by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, which is led by the U.S. Marshals Service in San Antonio, authorities in San Antonio confirmed.
Windcrest police obtained two warrants earlier this month that charge the University of Texas at San Antonio student with credit card abuse and misapplication of fiduciary property. She was arrested on those warrants.
The charges stem from allegations that the executive assistant took thousands of dollars in cash from a former employer, Cox Radio in Windcrest, to pay down a credit card she allegedly took out in one of her bosses' names. She's accused of taking as much as $61,000, records show.
Further details of Fuentes' arrest were to be announced this afternoon at a news conference involving U.S. marshals, Windcrest police and other officials.
Fuentes' disappearance in February from the downtown campus of UTSA fueled an expansive multi-agency search that gripped the community.
Friends and relatives combed the area, insisting that the mother of two would not abandon her children.
The revelation much later that she was being investigated over the theft allegations later stunned the community.
