Considering that the Rox have a couple of moves this off season, how do you think they'll stack up against the Spurs and the Mavs in 06/07?

Not good. They have no power forward or point guard.

Rockets will be better and probably make the playoffs but they won't be serious contenders.

Getting rid of Stromile makes them a serious force to be reckoned with.

Agree. They will lose in the first round of playoffs, from Spurs or Mavs.

If TMac and Yao stay healthy then, they have a chance to make it to the second round....but I don't think they're good enough to win it all.

SHane Battier will help them a lot. If T-Mac stays healthy, they'll supplant Denver in the playoffs. But that's a big IF. I don't think T-Mac will know a 100% healthy year ever again. Back problems are usually degenerative in athletes.

If TMac AND Yao can stay healthy... they will be a force. They need to both be healthy ALL year.

we will surprise people. Shane Battier is a top 5 defensive player in the league. he was the anchor for the Grizzlies #1 defense last year. they were a scary team but could never score enough points when they needed it. Houston will have the offense to score the points. and Yao will only improve

If they haven't already, they need to sign that Lucas III kid. He was impressive playing PG during the summer league.
There's no reason to think that the Rockets won't win 50+ games if TMac & Yao can stay healthy.

They just added Battier...they look good on paper. Let's see what happens in the regular season, AGAIN.

Battier should take much of the defensive pressure off of TMac.
As mentioned, he was the anchor of that Memphis D...now TMac can focus his energy on offense, and cover the other teams better players at times throughout the game instead of most of the game.

That's right - he's a free agent and shouldn't be on the list. They should get Cato back and see if he has anything left.

Their wagon is hitched to a guy with a trick back and a center coming off a major foot injury. When Yao and McGrady are both healthy they can be as good any any tandem in the league, but the Rockets will be lucky if they get 82 games combined out of them. If you told me that they were going to be 100% healthy all of next season I would still put them behind the Mavs and Spurs, but realistically I think they'll struggle to make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round if they do.

If Tmac would revert to 2003 form healthwise they could probably be the best team in the league.

I don't see them being the best team in the league, but if TMac & Yao are healthy the whole year I could see them with the 3rd or 4th seed in the west.

Holy cow, when they go to the bench ... they got no-one. If T-mac is close to leading the league in scoring and Yoa isn't that far behind, then they will be contenders.
Both have to be healthy all year, and hit on all cylinders all year (I don't think this will happen). I see them as a team that will be in the dogfight for the last play-off slot with the Lakers, Grizzlies and Hornets.

Wait, lemme catch my breath...
No, but seriously...if Tmac does revert they would be right up there with the Mavs/Spurs assuming Van Gundy got them to play defense and Yao to play like he ded the last half the season last year. Battier is an awesome addition and very underrated.
There bench doesn't scare me, or anyone else...but they could be a very tough team. I don't think Alston can get it done though, get a real point guard. Even if it's a Tinsley type. Sura isn't the answer either, IMO.
