No more talk about the curse ever again. All things must pass.

Eh, if somehow Roger Clemens no-hits the Sox to end the Series, then I would say the Curse is still on.

Gotta win it, Jim.

To me it won't be over until they win the World Series but this is just as sweet and it erases Dent's HR in '78 and Boone's HR from last year.

Don't jump the gun Jim.

Still, I'm cheering for the Red Sox.

I thought the curse was no World Series wins since the Babe left? I mean, they've GONE to the series several times in the intervening years, but not won. The monkey of the recent Yankee domination is certainly off of their backs, but I don't think the curse is gone unless they take the Series. My .02

ex, in 86, they beat the Angels to get to WS, then played a New York team in WS, that was why the curse was in play, but by beating the Yankees, this removes the curse once and for all...it is dead!!!

Another omen if you want to look at it. In 1967, the Red Sox lost to the Cards in seven games, in 1975 they lost to the Reds in seven games and in 1986, they lost to the Mets in seven games. 777...something has to give.

jim the curse is no world series wins. the curse is 6 world series appearances all 6 being lost in a game 7 in some horrible way.

The curse is dead...ask any Boston player, any Boston fan....this was their WS, the WS is gravy, but they are happy to beat the Yankees first and foremost....if they lose the WS, it will not bother them near as much since the did this to the hated Yankees.

Can you imagine Steinbrenner right now? Guess it would be a bad time to ask him for a raise huh? :)

Steinbrenner is making nooses for Kevin Brown, Vazquez, and others.

Torre might be done.

the fucking curse is winning the god damn world series.

the red sox havent done that and wont do that.

The curse is being the Yankees' bitches...that is no longer true. These teams have played 54 times the last 2 yrs and now the Red Sox have won 28 and the Yankees have won 26...that is a rivalry now only because the Red Sox finally beat the Yankees when it counted. That is the curse......it is dead.

The curse is not winning a World Series...hence the "1918" chant. That chant will be alive and well unless the Sox win the series.

didnt the red sox beat the yankees technically the other 6 times they have been to the series since 1918.

From espn.com

1) Has the Curse been lifted?

68.0% No, it's not over until they win the World Series

32.0% Yes, the Sox beat the Yankees in the postseason

What's so sweet about this incredible comeback is that this November my great uncle, Pete Runnells, is getting inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame, and just imagine how much fun I and my family will have at the ceremony in Boston if the Red Sox have just won a World Series!

The curse is no WORLD SERIES RINGS. That's why the recent HBO documentary, The Curse, focused on World Series losses and choke jobs.

I think Caminitti and the Babe are partying heavily in heaven and the Babe is not paying attention to the curse anymore....yathink?

I going to go out on a limb here....

If the Cardinals lose game 4 of this series...They could very well find themselves out of this thing....

Why does everybody do that?

Perhaps the Bambino is simply waiting for the most opportune time to reinstate the Curse.

Can you imagine the panic if the Cardinals win the next two games?

I got to thinking that the Red Sox history would suggest that something crazy is about to happen. I'm pulling for the Red Sox (though I fear living in a world where the Red Sox have won), but I can see the Cardinals making this really tight and causing some real anxiety in New England.

Lowe is far from a sure thing tonight. If he throws the way he did last week at Yankee Stadium, the Sox will be parading through the streets of Beantown. But, if Lowe throws like he did most of this year (I should know I had him on my fantasy team) the Cardinals will rip him up. That could mean that the Sox have to go into their middle relief for the first time in this series (first time beyond Arroyo, that is), which could be a problem. If the Cardinals get over tonight, they have to feel pretty good about facing Wakefield in Game 5, since they got to Wakefield in Game 1. If they get it to 3-2 heading back to Boston, who knows what will happen? Can Schilling gut it up one last time -- he made it sound like he's skeptical about whether he can. If Schilling can't go, does Francona move Martinez up and risk Petey on short rest or does he bring in Arroyo for a spot start? If he moves Martinez up, who gets the ball if they have to go to Game 7?

I don't think any of that will happen, but I can certainly imagine a scenario where fans in Boston start feeling the curse coming down on them. I don't think the curse is dead yet, but it's on life support at this point.

I think Aroyo should start game 5 instead of Wakefield.
