When Beno first came to the Spurs I absolutely hated him, he could barely get the ball upcourt and I had nicknamed him "the human turnover". But since then and when we picked up Nick Van Exel, Beno has gotten much better and i think last year he shoulda been playing over Van Exel. I also hope he gets to back up Tony this year too.

Unfortunately, Beno has become a whipping boy for a lot of Spurs fans. I get frustrated sometimes with his lapses when bringing the ball up, but I definitely think he is one of the best shooters on the Spurs. And he is a pretty good passer. IIRC, at one time, Pop referred to him as a "poor man's Stockton." But I'm not sure if he meant John or Dick (j/k).

beno is the opposite of a stockton like player, hes shoot first pass later, if you watched any games from 2005 that he did well in, you know it was from points and not assists. Even the one game that season he started when Parker was out for some reason he had like 23 points, 2 assists.

I would recommend you stop smoking him then.

But seriously, outside of spot duty this last year and the roller coaster that was Beno everytime he tried to bring the ball across mid-court do we really know enough to be "high" on him?

He hasnt' shown an ability to handle NBA pressure, to shoot with a hand in his face, run an offense effectively or even put a pass where it needs to be when it needs to be there.

Maybe a light went off in his head, I think the Spurs management is hoping one has, but we should take a wait and see attitude with this guy.

I say give Beno consistent minutes this year and watch & how good he is and becomes.

Let Beno play! :D

I think he could eventually be like Mark Price.

Anyone ask themselves how a PG can be such a poor ball handler/decision maker against the press? Or are we trying to convert him from shooting guard?

Anyway, he has a sweet stroke and tries hard, so I too am hoping for the magic lightbulb that makes him a productive backup point this year.

Do us proud Beno! :fro <----- (he needs one of these) :smokin :lol

Beno is not the one. I do like his shot over Parker's, but he is too soft to play in the NBA.

I'm still waiting for your nappy ass to give us that link of Sean Marks saying 'fuck San Antonio, I hope they go 0-82".

We should change your nickname to 0-82 until you can provide a link to a newstory.

I'd be for that and if by the trade deadline he still hasn't figured out how to get the ball past midcourt safely everytime, get him out of here.

If that happens, at least it will tell the Spurs to stop overestimating his trade value.

I may be wrong but I thinks that's the only reason why he still wears the silver and black.

It's the only thing that makes sense. Time for someone to give him an oar or chuck him the fuck out of the boat.

Hey, this dude (http://hopedale-high-blue-raiders.com/1974Album/page69.htm) is high on Beano!

This is bull. :madrun From Day 1 the coaching staff has said he is NOT like Tony Parker, who IS shoot first then pass.
