Lelie update

After allowing the situation to settle for a few days, the Broncos and agent Peter Schaffer renewed conversations Monday night regarding wide receiver Ashley Lelie, who is holding out in hopes of forcing a trade. http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/std/clear.gif

So far, teams that have expressed more than a passing interest in Lelie don't have a player the Broncos desire and teams that could satisfy the Broncos' needs aren't interested in the receiver. While no trade appears imminent, waiting for the right deal is not without complication because the longer Lelie stays away from camp, the more concerns potential suitors might have about his readiness. "I do think Ashley's value would be at its highest now and it would be in the best interest of everybody to have something worked out sooner rather than later," Schaffer said. "We're working diligently to reach a satisfactory resolution for all parties."

A representative of Tennessee Titans tailback Chris Brown wants the Dolphins to know his client is interested in a change of scenery.

Agent Ryan Morgan said Wednesday that the Dolphins are on Brown's list of teams where he would like to be traded. Brown's representatives have asked Titans management to deal him because the team has expressed no immediate interest in tendering a contract extension.

Brown, who rushed for a team-high 851 yards and five touchdowns last season, is in the last year of his current deal and could have his free-agent value negatively affected if he loses carries to backup Travis Henry and 2006 second-round draft choice LenDale White.

"There are many factors in determining where Chris would like to go and being on a championship-caliber team is one of them," said Morgan, who doesn't have permission from Titans management to broker a trade for Brown. "The Dolphins certainly qualify.

"[Dolphins coach Nick] Saban has them going in the right direction. They clearly want to run the ball. Chris sees the talent on offense they have in Daunte Culpepper, Chris Chambers and Ronnie Brown and he would be fine competing in a two-back system."

One running back the Dolphins considered trading for during the offseason found a new home Wednesday, as New Orleans sent Michael Bennett to Kansas City for an undisclosed 2007 draft choice.

Falcons get Lelie in 3-team deal (http://x.go.com/cgi/x.pl?goto=http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2558101&name=FPT-2558101-082310&srvc=sz)

ATLANTA -- Filling their need for a No. 3 wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=atl) on Tuesday night acquired disgruntled Denver Broncos (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=den) veteran Ashley Lelie (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5905) in a three-team trade, ESPN.com has learned.

The Falcons sent former first-round tailback T.J. Duckett (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5904) to Washington. At worst, the Broncos will receive two draft choices from Washington -- third- and fourth-round picks -- and those picks could escalate based on a complicated formula. The trade is expected to be announced Wednesday.

A nice bonus for Denver is that if Washington ends up with a higher first round draft pick than the Broncos, they have to flip-flop their picks.

Washingtons gona bomb and get Denver a top ten draft pick! :drunk

Denver's gotten a one (the Campbell trade), a two (the throw-in pick from the Portis / Bailey swap), a three and a four (both from the Lelie trade) off the Skins the last two years now.
