I believe in this initial draft we are not going to do so. If people want to do it, we can draft 2 or something.

I'm not sure which way that should go.

I would vote that if you can obtain that player, you should be able to retain their rights to keeper status.

Man, it's hard for me to digest this. I see the that it helps to keep the league fresh by not allowing one or two teams to dominate, BUT, at the same time it rewards bottom-feeders too much.
I'd have to see how it really unfolds to really develop an opinion, but it looks as if a player (1st place) could draft a kick ass team, and then field a sucky team the next year simply because he lost players 7-??.
Carson Palmer highlights my potential concern. Supposing he were to miss the first 6 games this year (prolly won't happen, but stick with me), I'd like to start my backup QB, but I can't because I had to drop him to keep 5 other studs.
At the very least, I'd like to see 1st place allowed to keep 8 players. That would kind of help to keep it fresh, while not penalizing teams that have to accomodate a Carson Palmer injury.
Anyway, I'm in, but I don't like that I can outdraft everyone, only have future studs slip away.
I should shut up, but I want to also point out that player values are quite volatile from season to season. Example - Eli Manning went in the 15th round in a start-up dynasty league. This year he'd be a top 5 pick. I don't think sucky teams should be given a gift like Eli Manning simply because they sucked drafting, or even worse, they sucked because of an injury or two (akin to 1996/7 when the Spurs got TD because of a DRob injury).

Well a lot of keeper leagues, everyone only keeps 9 players straight across the board So for the first place team to keep 6 is very realistic. I looked at about 50 keeper leagues that use a sliding scale and the majority of them 1st place kept 4 or 5 players.

Can we vote on ppr? Can we vote on the yards/point? Can we vote on flex? Can we vote on making it an actual dynasty (that's not condescending, that's using the word correctly)?
We are voting on ppr. Yards/point rushing/receiving is set. We are voting on flex.
No one has brought up passing yards, you can make your case and people can vote.
It's not a pure dynasty, that's a decision LJ and I already made.

I heard you called me a loser. That's fine my team sucked last year and I have no problems admitting it. Tpark wasn't a loser though. Tpark won straight up and you should thank him for trading you Larry Johnson.
Loser sounds to me like a guy that was so afraid of losing the championship, he wanted to split the money right before. Sounds pretty skerred to me.
But for you to make derogatory comments about myself, LJ, Kori, or Tpark is uncalled for. The whole season you were berading people about trades and a real jerk about negotiations. You got paid all of your winnings and I mailed a check to you for our side bet. No one did you any wrong so to come in here saying anything to that nature reflects on you.
I hope you do end up playing in a redraft league for whatever price. $10, $20, $50, $250 - doesn't matter to me. But, I will beat you this time. And to back it up, I'll put my $ where my mouth is. You name the amount and I'll beat you.
What do you say?
The money doesn't matter, what matters is I'll beat you.

[very small font]still, are we going to allow players to capitalize on injuries at,say, 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoons?[/very small font]
I'm cool if we do, 'cause rules are rules, but inevitably (in a money league), a few people will get pissed when they lose money because they were not uber-vigilant on Sunday afternoons.
More succinctly, I support all free agent players being placed on waivers Sun-Tues, simply because it introduces a geek element otherwise - and I'm a geek.

I didn't really fiddle with the waiver settings on that league. Waivers always confuses me, here are my choices on yahoo ...

Follow Waiver Rules
Time players are on waivers:

Hmm, if you have a dummy Yahoo account, maybe you can sign up and see what I saw (and then drop the registration).
Regarding dynasty/keeper teams, myfantasyleague.com is the de facto standard (actually, perhaps CBS is, but I'm familiar with CBS only through the basketball leagues). XPerts supports keeper/dynasty leagues too, but my familiarity with them is as rusty as yours.
I play in 3 other dynasty leagues at MFL, and it's rock-solid and very feature rich. The only draw back is the interface is old-school html, but it is customizable and can be made to look decent.
I'll have to look this up, but I think myfantasyleague has PC-based software available. If so, I assume it would be at a fraction of the cost for hosting a league year after year.

Sorry for not voting....I have been out of town on a business trip.
PPR - NO
Flex - NO (just 3 WRs)
So we aren't going to have a Salary cap like some dynasty leagues? I have been in one before and that was a lot of fun and kept a lot of parity in the league.
Also, we did heads up matches every week where you the following took place:
Team A vs. Team B:
Team A's Offense - Team B's Defense = [Team A score]
Team B's Offense - Team A's Defense = [Team B score]
That determined winner and loser for that matchup. Next week, you played someone else on the schedule. Is that how we are doing it - it's a little unclear with the allowed points feature.

WAIVERS
After the rosters are set, all players not on a team are free agents on waivers.
At kickoff each week, the first-come, first period ends and you must request players off waivers.
We will process the waivers each Wednesday morning at 9am.
The selection order for waivers during the season goes in reverse order of the current year-to-date record of each team.
PLAYOFFS
Weeks 14-16
Top 6 teams
#1 and #2 get bye in Week 14
PAYOUTS
Champion: $400
2nd Place: $150
3rd Place: $50
Payouts will be sent out in the form of a check one week after the season has ended.
It would be a large step if I assumed I knew WTF you were talking about.
Nevermind, you didn't catch that one.

So are we drafting college players? If so, how many and is there a seperate draft or will they be one of the 22 players allowed on a team?

There will be one college player drafted
So one round after the regular draft is over. I'll figure out how we'll work it.

Alright. Then it'll be like the Dynasty Basketball d-league draft. If you were last in the 1st round of the NFL one then you will be 1st in the College one.

Not that I had a preference either way, but I thought the college player pick came amid the regular draft. I guess I won't be drafting Adrian Peterson in round 3.

I'm all for it, but, I don't think the draft software supports it; and Kori would have to bill us at an exorbitantly high hourly rate to accommodate this, now that I think this through.

If you want the Man of Glass he is all yours GoN.
I for one hope he does shed his FRAGILE tag, he has lots of potential but so far, AP hasn't led ouSELESS to any National Championship.

I think we should do it like the D-League. So us people at the bottom of the nfl draft have a chance at a solid college player.

Okay I figured out what to do. During the draft if you want to draft a college player, then just announce it in the chat box, then I'll push SKIP THIS PICK in the commissioner thing and write down who you picked. After the draft, I'll add the person as a custom player and then add them to your team.
So yes, you should pick your one college player DURING the regular draft.

I've posted this a couple times, but here it is again because a few people asked me last night how to do their pre-ranks.
If you'd like to set a pre-draft ranking but WILL be at the live draft, do it under For Owners/My Draft List.
DO NOT do it under Draft/Pre-Draft Picks. If you do it there, those players will AUTOMATICALLY be drafted for you when it's your turn to draft (even if you are in the draft room). So make sure not to put anything there unless you are going to miss the live draft entirely.
Also you should enter the Live Draft Room a little ahead of time to get yourself familiar with the procedure. I do have the ability to do things like stop the clock, edit a pick, etc. but I don't want to waste tons of time doing all that.
Thanks.

My friend Will.

Use IE when we are drafting.
Firefox stretches out the page and makes it look weird.
To draft, go to For Owners on the top and then Live Draft Room.
You can go there anytime to get familiar with it.

I am kinda glad he isn't in there anymore because I'd want it to be only posters at ST.
