Bobcats, Hermann agree on 1-year deal
Signing of forward, others push roster limit

The Charlotte Bobcats have agreed to terms with Argentine forward Walter Hermann, and appear to be running out of roster spots.

Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff confirmed that Hermann will sign a one-season contract, with the Bobcats holding an additional one-season option.

When Hermann and center Jake Voskuhl sign in the coming weeks, Charlotte will have 15 guaranteed contracts, plus a qualifying offer tendered to restricted free agent Melvin Ely.

The NBA regular-season roster limit is 15, although young players can be sent to the NBA's developmental league.

Hermann played a game for the Bobcats' summer-league team in Orlando, Fla., and Bickerstaff believes he has the versatility to play either forward.

Ely, who can play power forward or center, could play for the qualifying offer next season to become an unrestricted free agent. He could also sign an offer sheet with another team (Charlotte could match) or work out a sign-and-trade deal between the Bobcats and another team.
