I watched the game live yesterday and got to see Manu for the first time. :spin
Short summary of the game:
Argentina started out well but got into a long slump late in the 1st quarter. They looked hesitant. by the end of the 1st, the score was just 11-12, Serbia up.
Then Hernandez took Manu out for the whole 2nd quarter and SM took advantage of it. Argentina was very stagnant. I didn't understand why he did it. One whole quarter with, I think, three of their starters not playing, is a bit long. Only Delfino's play kept them close at 29-35 by halftime.
SM really built up the lead by the 3rd Q, mostly with a lot of threes. Argentina couldn't come up with anything. Their shots weren't falling down. Manu was having a difficult time. Scola was very active inside though.
There were some points in the 4th where I thought they were really going to rally behind the 9pt deficit after the 3rd but SM's attack just kept on building up. Darko was very prolific last night, tipping in shots, converting threes. By the 2-min mark, Hernandez took out his starters because SM was leading by 16 then.
I hope this is just a 'fluke' game by Argentina. Sometimes they looked lost on offense. Too much hesitance, perhaps. Then they allowed a couple of backdoor plays and failed to box out on defence. The WC is a week away and I do hope they get their act together starting today.
The best player out there for Argentina yesterday was Delfino. Farabello also provided solid minutes. I liked his hustle plays.
I'll be watching Argentina vs. Slovenia today. :spin
