View Full Version : Why The Idea of A World-Wide Islamist Conpiracy Is Dangerous

George Bush sometimes sounds more like the Mahdi, preaching jihad against infidels, than the leader of a western democracy. In his regular radio address to the American people on Saturday he linked the British alleged aircraft plotters with Hizbullah in Lebanon, and these in turn with the insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan. All, said the president of the world's most powerful nation, share a "totalitarian ideology", and a desire to "establish a safe haven from which to attack free nations". Bush's remarks put me in mind of a proverb attributed to Ali ibn Abu Talib: "He who has a thousand friends has not a friend to spare, and he who has one enemy will meet him everywhere."

Bush has chosen to lump together all violent Muslim opposition to what he perceives as western interests everywhere in the world, as part of a single conspiracy. He is indifferent to the huge variance of interests that drives the Taliban in Afghanistan, insurgents in Iraq, Hamas and Hizbullah fighting the Israelis. He simply identifies them as common enemies of the United States.

There is no chance that the west will get anywhere with the Muslim world until the US government is willing to disassemble a spread of grievances in widely diverse societies, examine them as separate components, and treat each on its merits. America cannot prevail through the mere deployment of superior wealth and military power, the failure of which is manifest. Judicious and discriminatory political judgments are fundamental, and today quite lacking.

The madness of Bush's policy is that he has made a wilful choice to amalgamate the grossly irrational, totalitarian and homicidal objectives of al-Qaida with the just claims of Palestinians and grievances of Iraqis. His remarks on Saturday invite Muslims who sympathise with Hamas or reject Iraq's occupation or merely aspire to grow opium in Afghanistan to make common cause with Bin Laden.

No world-wide Islamo-fascists conpiracy? This guy obviously needs to listen to Rush and Pastor Hagee more.

As if that's not outrageous enough, leftist writer Greg Palast writes that the war on Al Queda has been over for years. Bin Laden and Al Queda won, and he makes an intriguing case...

So, Osama walks into this bar, see?

I’m going to tell you something which is straight-up heresy: America is not under attack by terrorists. There is no WAR on terror because, except for one day five years ago, al Qaeda has pretty much left us alone.

That’s because Osama got what he wanted. There’s no mystery about what Al Qaeda was after. Like everyone from the Girl Scouts to Bono, Osama put his wish on his web site. He had a single demand: “Crusaders out of the land of the two Holy Places.” To translate: get US troops out of Saudi Arabia.

And George Bush gave it to him. On April 29, 2003, two days before landing on the aircraft carrier Lincoln, our self-described “War President” quietly put out a notice that he was withdrawing our troops from Saudi soil. In other words, our cowering cowboy gave in whimpering to Osama’s demand.

The press took no note. They were all wiggie over Bush’s waddling around the carrier deck in a disco-aged jump suit announcing, “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.” But it wasn’t America’s mission that was accomplished, it was Osama’s.

Right, it's such a reach to think that all the radical Islamists of the world, whose leaders have publically stated it is their mission to convert the world to Islam at all costs and kill all Americans, Jews, and anyone on the side of either, really do intend on converting the world to Islam at all costs and kill all Americans, Jews, and anyone on the side of either.

Dan, be honest, are you Adam Gadahn?

This is just a straight-up lie. As leftists go, Greg Palast is about the last one anybody should trust. Osama had a much longer list of demands than that. Among his edicts was that the state of Israel be dismantled, that ALL Western military presence in Muslim countries be withdrawn, that the U.S. allow Islamic fundamentalists to conquer the Middle East, that al-Qaeda have control over Middle Eastern oil, that we change our culture so that young Muslims do not adopt Western customs contrary to fundamentalist Islam, and that we all convert to Islam.

Greg Palast is a lot like al-Qaeda terrorists in the following regard: he understands that the United States must be laid low in order for his agenda to be carried out. Just as American and Western military, economic, and cultural influence stands in the way of global Islamism, so also does it stand in the way of global socialism. Whereas Islamic terrorists attack us directly, he prefers to rot us out from the core by attempting to influence vulnerable parties on the left against their own interests. "The war on terror isn't real. These plots aren't really being broken up. It's all a charade for oil and fascism. Fundamentalist Muslims are actually the most peaceful people on earth because Islam is fundamentally peaceful, unlike bloodthirsty Christianity which needs to be marginalized wherever it is practiced." Maybe, just maybe, America will put its guard down long enough that a major financial center like New York can be destroyed and send global capitalism into chaos.

Unfortunately for him, most center-left liberals aren't stupid enough to buy this crap. Most take the war on terror seriously, but simply think that Bush has sidetracked it. But of course, there are always the few, like good ol' Nbadan.

Some of the 30 moderate Muslim leaders at the meeting told Miss Kelly that important days in their two main religious festivals - Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha - should be made public holidays for followers of the faith.

Sharia law, which is practised in large parts of the Middle East, should also be introduced in Britain, they argued. While it specifies stonings and amputations as routine punishments for crimes, Dr Pasha said he wanted it only for family affairs.

Start with the civil things, work on the stonings later. You are in England. You follow ENGLISH law or GTFO. Can Christians, Buddists, Peagans, Devil worshippers, Hindus,Mormons, and any other religion/sect/ have their own set of laws?

These Muslims are a threat, just not toting weapons........................................... .................................................. .................................................. .yet.

From The Haj by Leon Uris:

"So before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; and the tribe against the world. And all of us against the infidel."

By the way, the "just claims" of the people claiming to be Palestinians should be against the Turks and the Jordanians before the Jews or the Americans. Funny how that seems never to be the case.

And the only thing worse than the idea of a world wide Islamist conspiracy is the fact that there actually is one, and Bush hating Americans would rather see dead Americans than accept that fact.

From that same article:

A recent poll suggested that a third of British Muslims would rather live under Sharia law, while a similar number said they also hope Britain will one day become an Islamic state.
A third of Muslims want to see Britain become Britistan under Sharia law, and the "moderate" Muslim leaders are pushing for Sharia law in their own communities.

That is not going to end well.

Those same leaders wrote Parliament a common letter stating that the best way to stop terrorism against Britons was to change UK foreign policy.

Parliament understood the letter as an ultimatum and a threat.

I predict they are going to start deporting clerics and leaders soon, and impose French-style assimilating measures on the rest.

^^ I vehemently disagree. Find some Americans who want dead Americans. I loathe Bush for what he is doing to this country that I love and what it stands for. I don't want to see enemies of this country harm my fellow citizens even if it means it's bad for Bush.

What you wing nuts don't get is we don't want this nation and her citizens harmed. We believe this is the greatest nation to have existed on the planet but we see our freedoms being eroded, we see incompetence in the executive branch and we see no independent thought in the Congress.

Most of us have had enough and hopefully the Dems will take back Congress and while we are stuck with Bush for 2 and half more years, at least he can be held accountable.

Oh no, the logic is totally sound

If you dont support Bush, you want US soldiers dead.

I totally see the connection.

/sarcasm

Jesus-fucking-Christ, sometimes I think you people say things like that just to get a rise out of others.

...as if Christian conservatives don't want Bible passages enshrined in law as well?

(shrugs)

Every religion has people who want *perfection* on earth as it is in (insert holy book/belief here).

Western countries have dealt with such before and we are still here. A healthy dose of secularism...

You need to read the koran, padna. Islam is a religion of peace, and talks about the peace after all non-muslims have been killed or enslaved. Equating that to someone wanting the ten commandments read to school kids is just idiotic.
