Who had the better rookie season. Lebron James or Chris Paul?

Lebrons rookie stats: 20.9 ppg 5.9 rpg 5.5 apg 1.65 spg 39.5 minutes per game
3.46 Turnovers per game.

Team record: 35-47

Chris Paul's rookie stats: 16.1 ppg 5.1 rpg 7.8 apg 2.24 spg
2.35 turnovers per game.

Team record: 38-44

Chris Paul was phenominal. He averaged 8 apg as a rookie compared to Lebrons 5.5.

He averaged many more steals, Less turnovers, and lead a worse team to a better record.

Give me Chris Paul.

How so? I think it makes for great debate considering how close the numbers are.

Why debate who had a better rookie season? They both had good rookie seasons.

whats the point of the debate? does rookie season stats mean anything? does anyone in their right mind honestly think Chris Paul will be anything as good as Lebron James? this has got to be the most pointless debate topic ive ever seen.

gotto go with cp3, did it in a harder conference, and nearly made the playoffs with that scrub team he had.

Speaking only of their rookie seasons, I completely agree.

But its obvious who is going to be better. That doesnt slight CP3 though, he going to rock.

I seen him put a triple-double on the Pistons (CP3). He was unstoppable.

Sorry I wasted your time :rolleyes

This isn't about which player is better, It is about which player had the better rookie season, I started this topic on a few other forums and it went 10-11 pages deep.

Chris Paul was the superior ROOKIE player, but he won't ever be as good as Lebron is now and in the future.

I take CP3 over Lebron too. Only thing CP3 doesn't have going for him right now is he doesn't have the league all up in his jock like Lebron does.

Damn why are you giving him heat for a topic he thought would create interest? It beats all the topics Ducks puts here. If you aren't interested in the topic than don't respond.

Everybody is SERIOUSLY overrating Chris Paul. Big Time. Massively.

One good year doesn't immediately put him at Lebron's level. I personally don't see Chris Paul getting much better than what he is right now. And I think in the end, all the "hawks were idiots for taking Marvin Williams over Chris Paul" talk will be gone, because Marvin Williams will be three times the pro that Chris Paul is going to be.

A decade ago, there was a rookie PG who had an equal or better rookie year than Chris Paul. He averaged 19.0 PPG, 9.3 APG, 4.0 RPG, 1.4 SPG. That was Damon Stoudamire. Not saying Chris Paul will be only as good as Stoudamire, but 10 years ago if you told people "Stoudamire will be a nice player but nothing more" everyone would have called you nuts, because back then everyone thought Stoudamire was going to be a superstar.

Chris Paul will be a very nice player for a long time, but he's no superstar now, nor will he ever be (in my opinion).

CP has more minutes, 3pt%, FT%(Lebron 42% :lol), way more assists, less turnovers.

not only that, CP is involving the whole team in most his plays.

what does being a mavs fan have to do with anything about this topic? all i said is that its a completely pointless topic for debate. there is no question as to who the superior player is. and a rookie season doesnt mean as much as people always want to think, as monosylab1k pointed out. kindly STFU.

from what ive noticed, lebron is playing a bit differently, and trying to get out in the open court for fast breaks, and is absorbing quite a few more double and triple teams than Chris Paul has. he also doesnt have to play as much, since they also have guys like Wade and Carmello to take care of things, and keep the minutes balanced. Paul has been great, but to say hes been leading the team is not exactly true.

and of course he has been involving the team in his plays. hes the point guard. thats his job, to get the team involved in plays.

didn't say Chris Paul wasn't playing well...just saying that Lebron isn't "lost" out there.

now you must concede Lebron is a little lost out there.

Carmello + Wade bailed team USA once again. Where was lebronze? he's supposed the be the chosen one :lol

Carmelo and Wade are definitely outplaying Lebron...but I still wouldn't call Lebron lost out there. I think he looks just fine out there. But we'll see how he looks against Argentina and such.

Just cuz he's not the top performer in international play doesn't mean that he isn't the best player in the NBA today....nobody remembers that Charles Barkley outplayed Jordan during the original "Dream Team" year. Barkely shot 71% FG compared to Jordan's 45%, Barkley averaged 4.1 rebounds to Jordan's 2.4, and averaged 18.0 points to Jordan's 14.9
