Cleveland Cavaliers Assistant Coach Mark Osowski, 41, died Sunday, shocking the organization and the NBA community.

Osowski had collapsed at a basketball camp in Maine last month and was treated at a hospital for pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas.

The cause of death was not released immediately.

Osowski came to the Cavaliers last season after working as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors. He also coached with the Charlotte Hornets, where he met current Cavaliers Coach Paul Silas.

He was active in basketball camps and charities, especially in his hometown of Leominster, Mass. This summer, he took part in an NBA program in Brazil.

He had worked at camps for high school players in Germany. He also coached the Cavaliers' summer team in Orlando and Las Vegas in July.

Osowski leaves his wife, Kristin-Ann.
