ro_50

So far,

Melo is heating up w/ the team's last five points. He hit a three from the corner and a J.

LJ is settling for too many jump shots and the team has a whole is a little too hurried against the zone.

Kirk and Battier have played great when they have been out there.

Jamison started and didnt do shit in his time out there.

Arroyo is playing like he did against the US back in 04.

PR just went up again on a dribble penetration lay-in.

08-19-2006, 07:03 AM
BTW, a quick summary of this game :

Argentina has won but has been very disapointing : they have only played well in the first quarter. Chapu and Manu have been great. The rest of the team as been unimpressive : Scola has been horrible, Oberto has just been solid, PGs have done nothing. Wolfenst.. has hit 2 big 3's. They have had a lot of difficulties against french zone defense, rebounding have save them at the end of the game.

France has made too much mistakes with a lot of turnovers and missed FTs. They have shown some qualities with a huge Florent Pietrus and Yannick Bokolo. Bokolo has definitely a nba level, I hope Spurs will draft him next year.

velik_m

how was arg's team play?

good at some times, but too much solo actions. They strugled in the 3rd against high pressure french D and zone defense - they need to cirulate the ball more and faster. they still have 4 games in this round to tune up and then the real games start.

Ginobili had some really spectacular plays but he slowed down in the 2nd half.

My favorite was Manu on the break dribbling down the right sideline. Foirest steps in front of him and Manu dribbles between Foirest's legs, and picks up the dribble with the same left hand all in one motion going coast-to-coast and draws a foul in traffic.

Another was the save falling head-long out of bounds and throwing it back behind him over 2 Frenchmen to Oberto standing at the FT line. Luck or or did he see Fabri with his peripheral vision?

"picks up the dribble with the same left hand all in one motion going coast-to-coast and draws a foul in traffic."

10 and 6 is not horrible.

It's not a fantasy league.
Scola has been a non-factor on offense, he has only scored one time in the post while he was defended by Diaw and Florent Pietrus. His defense has been very average. The only thing you can give him some credit on this game is that he has played with heart on both end of the court. And when the only good thing that you can say about a player who is the best PF in europe is that he is a good hustle player, it means that he has been horrible considering his level.

He did not have his greatest game, I'll give you that.

Agree, I like Scola too. I think that he could have help Spurs and I've seen him play way better but if I have to give him a nba contract only by looking this game, I won't give him more than the minimum.
