Probably would not have mattered as ATL was said to be looking to salary dump thus only taking back draft picks.

"That exception -- created in July when Indiana persuaded the New Orleans Hornets to participate in a sign-and-trade for Peja Stojakovic instead of simply signing Stojakovic away outright -- established the Pacers as the only Harrington suitor that could complete a sign-and-trade without forcing Atlanta to take back significant salary."

Still did Spurs offer anything?

Spurs didn't have the money for another Mercedes.

Agreed. 4 players earning over 8mil/season each would have severely restricted the quality of the rest of the roster and any future flexibility of the team for the life of that contract. In terms of output/dollar, would it have made sense? Probably not.

Also, would Harrington have been happy as a 4th option or 6th man? I think not.

We'd all love to have him, but at 9mil/season Harrington never made sense for us.

Yeah, don't bother addressing the logic of the situation at all...
