First off, in the event that anyone cares, Paramount has severed ties with Tom Cruise couch jumping ass and his production company. Paramount's spokesperson pretty much said that they axed him because he's been acting crazy for the last year. "As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," they said to the Wall Street Journal. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

Cruise's camp is returning fire with the usual "I wasn't fired, I quit." Should get uglier. I'm amazed they didn't dump the High Priest of Crazyland much sooner.

Meanwhile on the other side of the Atlantic, a British cartoon network is going back and editing Tom and Jerry, and a few other classic cartoons, by cutting out any footage of the characters smoking after a parents group complained that the cartoons were glamourizing the habit. I can kind of understand people trying to cut out movie stars smoking, and Joe Camel but this is off the charts stupid. If anything I think the unedited cartoons are an important lesson. If you smoke, you will have an anvil dropped on your head, be set on fire, and run through a laundry ringer.
