Hornets Receive:
Brent Barry
Eric Williams
Spurs Receive:
Desmond Mason
Conditional 2nd Round Pick
------------------
Just a thought. We get more athleticism, more points, and more younger. And the Hornets get the SG they need plus someone to fill part of the Mason void that doesn't even need a full replacement, but I bet they wouldn't mind having him. Worked on ESPN Trade Machine. Plus it wouldn't be bad to get someone to give us a few highlights. :smokin Does the NBA do conditional picks? I know the NFL does so I just assumed the NBA does too. What do y'all think? Good or bad for Spurs?

Mason's okay. He's athletic, but he can't shoot from 3 at all.
I'm not sure if I'd do it or not. It seems like a non-impact trade for the most part.

Do you have any estimate how much crack Jeff Bower would need to go through with that trade?

Out of curiosity, why trade Barry for a guy his size that can't shoot from three point range? I haven't been aware of Mason since the slam dunk contest. On the other side, why would the Hornets make this trade?

Also, I recently read an article somewhere about Mason's decline in the last two years...
Once again, where's the Jumaine Jones talk? He's 27, athletic enough and can shoot the 3. We could probably grab him for Williams alone (and a 2nd rounder maybe) in a sign and trade. I'm thinking there must be something about him we don't know...

The thing about the Bobcats is they might not even care much about reaching the minimum payroll. If Ely takes the qualifying offer, they'll be only $3-4 million away from the minimum may just decide to pay whatever surcharge that might result. It'll probably take decent picks and/or cash to make them do anything.

I would be happy if we would get Mason.

The Hornets would make that deal why? They have their "shooters" at the small forward spot with Peja and Rasual Butler. They need Mason for his defense and transition game to run with Chris Paul.
They do need a veteran back-up shooting guard, but not at the expense at losing Mason. Right now, Desmond is slated to start at the 2-guard and they have no other 2-guards on the roster. Brent Barry as the only true 2-guard?
And, you even suggest that the Hornets add a draft pick???
zero pennies ...

Looks like Jumaine Jones is going to sign with the Suns for a 1 year guaranteed minimum contract.

Yeah, saw that... :depressed.
IMHO, the FO really dropped the ball on him. We could have signed him for a yr, surely??? Instead he goes to one of our main rivals!?
