US did a good job of forcing TO's on the first couple of possessions of the second half, but need to capitalize at turning those into points.

Well I think if Nowe would have had a better game and with better rebounding it might have been closer. It will be interesting to see how they will play against Greece. I am still proud of our team. Good luck to the remaining teams...

This was just a very competitive game...Team USA did not get into a shooting grove until the 3rd quarter but played tough defense making sure that Nowitzki did not get into an offensive rhythm either...
To say either team “stinks” is ridiculous...These are the best athletes on the planet; coached by the greatest basketball instructors assembled...Everyone is working their tails off....

Wow I didn't see the game but reading this thread, how did Team USA end up winning by 20 when it seemed the game was close for the most part?
They did it by forcing turnovers and scoring off of them. They were extremely tenacious defensively and aggressive on the offensive end during the 3rd quarter that blew the game open.
The biggest problem was that the US missed a lot of open three-point attempts or the game would've been more one-sided. However, they were able to hit enough of them during the game to either stay in striking distance in the 1st half, or sustain their double digit lead in the 4th quarter.

What can we learn from this game?
A couple of things I see is that the USA can be beaten with a consistently active zone to force excessive outside shooting mixed with good outside shooting and ball-handling by the opposing offense.
LeBron James can defend and stop Dirk Nowitzki but Shane Battier cannot.

Margin of victory is irrelevant, whether another team is "scared" is irrelevant. ALL that matters is winning the game. So far, the US team has done just that. It doesn't matter if the win is by 2 or 20, a win is a win period.
