View Full Version : I got pwned (poker)

I had the most incredible HU session with a guy early this morning. He was a total fish and he owned me. I think the only time I beat him in a big pot, I was a pretty big underdog. Best hand was definetly no good at this table. I'l show you some examples. You may notice unorthodox play that is somewhat passive, and it was because I felt ti was the best way to play this guy. He was betting 20 dollars into 2 dollar pots, so I wanted to let him dig his grave.

I was talking to Kori while I played and told her it felt like I was playing Tpark all over again. No matter how far ahead I was, the guy hit.

The funny thing is I went over my hand historys of the guy after I stopped playing him, and he proceeded to lose everything he won off me to other people within the hour.

Anyhow, on the pwning.

2 outer number one, and he doubles up on me. That 5 cost me 25 bucks or so here, but it ends up costing me a hell of a lot more on down the line.

Later on he's taken some other pots on me when he's rivered a flush and when he's rivered a straight on me. At this point, he's up to 150.

This is the point where I should probably just leave because the guy is some poker god. I was probably playing Matt Damon. Anyhow, I want my money back and I keep getting drawn out on. I'm not tilting, I just can't have a single hand hold up.

I finally win a pot here, but had the flush come I would have been screwed.

Oops. I told you, best hand is no good here.

Full tilt was really out to get me. I am really lucky the board paired because if not I definetly shove this. I didn't and I played it really really passivly to trap him with one of those big bets, but when he finally made it I ended up just calling.

A little poker glossary for me please.

Fish?
Outer?
Mucked?
Tilting?

Just curious so I can understand what's going on.A fish is someone who completely sucks. AKA a donator, dead money

An out is how many cards in the deck can improve your hand to win it. A 2 outer means that there are only 2 cards in the deck that can come to win you the hand. If you have a 2 outer with 1 card to come, that means you will lose 19 out of 20 times in that situation.

Muck means you fold your hand without showing. It applies more in live games as opposed to online games.

Tilt is when you start playing emotionaly. If you take a few bad beats in a row and you start to play worse, you're said to be on tilt because the bad beats are effecting your play.

Fish means the guy sucks less than you do.
Outer means your hosed, you should've folded and your livin on a prayer.
Mucked means blow me, I was stupid for staying in and I should've folded so I don't want you to see how dumb I was.
Tilting means I should quit and find a career because I take poker to seriously.

That's basically what they mean.

Why is poker infinitely more popular than chess?

Why is poker infinitely more popular than chess?I don't know, I like both. A lot of good backgammon and chess players find the jump to poker easy.

Actually, I think the reason is because in poker you can totaly suck and still get lucky. The guy above was horrendous, and still won several hundred dollars off of me in the span of an hour. If you suck in chess, you're not going to beat someone who has a better understanding of the game than you do.

So, I guess poker is more popular than chess because of the luck factor and that anyone can win.

That money could have better been used somewhere else. All this is coming from a guy who made a topic for us to give our blankets to the homeless ?
With that cash you tossed out? the homeless could be staying at a Holiday INN :lmao

Manny, stick with the sit and gos. I hate those cash games. In fact, why don't we get on the same table in a 9 man Sit and Go, in a 33+3 game. If you win 1st place, you get 148.00, so it pays nice.

If I had all the money that I have lost on gambling the last 20 yrs, I could buy a Holiday Inn for the homeless.

Jim, you can save your hand historys to a folder automaticaly.

When you open Full Tilt go to the options menu and click on hand history. Then just check the box to save them to your hard drive. Now you'll have them there for review.

Manny , I won $210 last night. Lost the last hand when my buddy Fred sucked out with an ace on river to beat my Qs, but still can not complain. We had 10 players and one other guy won 320, so the two of us were pretty much the only ones to win.

Manny, I won money in Vegas playing Holdem at the Belagio. There are a lot of fish who are calling stations, and all you have to do it identify them and play against them exclusively and you can rign them up.

:elephantYeah, you always want to sit to the left of a shitty player so that you can play as many pots as possible with them and be in position.

Manny, I folded another straight flush again. I was in BB, and had 5-8 clubs. I would have called a 100% raise, no problem, but the fucker raised 400% and I folded. The flop came up with 3 clubs, which would have kept me in the hand for another card. The turn would have given me the str8t flush, and I would have cleaned house because one other guy had a high flush and the other guy had a set and they both went all in against each other after the turn.
