SPURS ANNOUNCE 2006-07 BROADCAST SCHEDULE AND TEAM

SAN ANTONIO, September 5, 2006 - The Spurs officially announced their 2006-07 regular season broadcast schedule. Spurs fans will be able to see all 82 Spurs games on either the Spurs local broadcast network or one of the NBA's national broadcast partners.

The Spurs local broadcast partners will split the schedule three ways, FSN Southwest will televise 32 Spurs games this season highlighted by the Spurs - Suns matchup on November 6. KMYS (MY35TV) will have 31 Spurs games starting with the November 11 contest against the New York Knicks. KENS 5, the flagship TV station of the Spurs, will televise 10 Spurs regular season contests beginning with the Spurs home opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 3.

The Spurs primary broadcast team will consist of play-by-play announcers Dave Barnett and Bill Land along with the color analyst Sean Elliott. Barnett returns to the Spurs where he spent eight years behind the microphone (1988-96). Land is entering his fifth season as the Spurs play-by-play announcer. Both will equally share the duties with Dick Stockton and Andrew Monaco serving as fill-ins as needed.

"Once again this season, we have a dynamic team of broadcasters delivering the games," remarked Mike Kickirillo, director of broadcasting. "On any given night, we will have announcers who are among the best in the business - not just locally, but nationally."

The three network broadcasts schedules are listed individually on the following page, as well as a full regular season schedule indicating the 73 locally televised games.

I'm saving up for league pass now. Dave did the games when I lived in SA.

Travis was half right. Land is still doing about 1/2 the games.

Man, Dave Barnett is awesome. I was watching an old Spurs game last night and was just thinking about how Barnett was ten times better than any play-by-play announcer the Spurs have had. It sucked the day ESPN stole him.

Welcome back.

P.S.

Is it a bad sign if the Spurs' best signing of the offseason turns out to be a TV guy?

Now, what would it take to get rid of that sorry excuse for a wannabe announcer Stan Kelly?

Dave Barnett was great back in the old KSAT days. The only tv guy I've ever liked better was Greg Papa. Bill Land on the other hand sucks worse than any announcer the Spurs have ever had.

Everytime I see the picture above I kinda miss Stephen Jackson as a Spur. Especially the one where his mouth is open because I think that was the great comeback against the Mavs in game 6 of 03. Am I right?

Huh?

Shouldn't the so-called flagship station carry more games than the low power UHF station in Kerrville?

Dave Barnett is great! This is good news indeed.
