I am not saying that any of these guys will end up on the Spurs, it's just interesting that so many guys that were in the league last year haven't been signed yet.

Not most of them. Maybe a few of them. None of the bolded ones are signed anywhere.

Some of those on foreign teams haven't really signed yet. Skita isn't signed with the Sonics, no matter what he said in the Georgian paper. He hasn't even been invited to training camp yet.

Yeah but I never trust hearing that a player signed with a foriegn team until I see them playing:lol Someone here said that Hiram Fuller signed with Pau. And I talked to him last night and he didn't - he'll be in Jazz training camp.

Raptors Release Alvin Williams

(July 26, 2006) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have released guard Alvin Williams. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed.

“I have the greatest respect for Alvin Williams, both as a basketball player and as a human being,” said Bryan Colangelo, president and general manager of the Raptors. “Parting ways is simply something that needed to be done for this franchise and Alvin to both move forward.”

Williams has been sidelined by an injured right knee that has limited him to one game since March 19, 2004. He had microscopic surgery on the knee November 22, 2004 and arthroscopic surgery in December.

Williams was acquired from Portland on February 13, 1998 and is the club’s all-time assist leader with 1,791 and second in games played at 417. He averaged 9.3 points and 5.6 assists in the regular season and 12.5 points and 4.3 assists in 18 postseason games.

Even Pau's owner has written it in a letter for season ticket holder. :lol
Rumor in Pau was that they haven't re-signed him use he was overweight after his injury, it looks like it was more because some nba teams were interested in him.

Jay Williams has received a training camp invite from Nets, I don't know what answer he has given or if he has still given his answer.

Well he is chubby:lmao One concern is that during summer league, he was sent home (by the Jazz) because of some high blood pressure concerns. But I talked to him last night on text message and he said he got it checked out and it was an isolated incident ... and that he'll be in Jazz camp.

Not really.

There's a bunch of guys worth picking up for some team.

Bonzi, Ely, QWoods.

Even Van Horn, Cato, Palacio, McCarty, etc are worth the minimum at least.

Yeah, what did Cato do to piss the entire league off? He is a serviceable backup banger - I thought he would be a good fit here for the minimum.

Hell, I'd have Van Horn on the Spurs for the minimum. You only play him in spots for his shooting. Really, we should respect this guy a little more. In game 7 he hit two (three?) 3s when we left him open...

No one saw enough of Cato to give him more than the minimum. I imagine he's turned down a few of those offers for now.

Van Horn would be a Spur right now had we not traded for Bonner. Thank your lucky stars.

I think Charlotte is just waiting for Ely to take the qualifying offer unless Jordan finds some other former Tar Heel on the block. Maybe he's trying to work out another Stackhouse trade.

I talked with a guy who played against Kemp at Fonde Rec Center a couple of months ago here in Houston. He said Kemp had lost 50 lbs. and looked pretty good. I also doubt he'll make it back, but apparently it won't be because he's not trying to rehabilitate himself.

I'd like to see him succeed just to show others that they can too.

ChumpDumper

Kemp needs to suck it up and play in the CBA or D-League to prove himself. Olden Polynice and Oliver Miller got a couple of more contracts by doing just that.

All she wrote? Kukoc says 'it looks like I'm done'

With no available NBA jobs close to home, Toni Kukoc (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=2148) appears resigned to staying there for this season and beyond.

Kukoc

"It looks like I'm done," Kukoc told The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel after playing in a charity golf tournament. "There are teams that want me, but I don't want to go far from home."

Kukoc, who lives in Highland Park, Ill., only wanted to play for the Bucks or the Bulls. He played for Milwaukee the past four seasons.

"My choice was either Chicago or Milwaukee," he told the newspaper. "Milwaukee is going with a young team and Chicago is in need of a big guy, so that's it."

The 38-year-old Kukoc said that he won't miss basketball if this indeed is the end of his career.

"I think it's time for me to move away from basketball. It was a huge part of my life and gave me pretty much everything I desired but there comes a time when you just can't take it anymore.

"I can still play 10, 15, 20 minutes, maybe, but I don't need it anymore. I always felt like I needed to play basketball. Right now, it's not my most desirable thing anymore. I'd rather play golf," he told the newspaper.

The Bulls drafted Kukoc in the second round in 1990. With Chicago, the Croatia native won the Sixth Man Award in 1996 and NBA titles from 1996-98.

Kukoc also has played for Philadelphia and Atlanta. He averaged 4.9 points per game last season for Milwaukee in 65 games and averaged 11.6 ppg over his 13-year career.
