For those of you with little ones... My neighborhood is dead Halloween night, everyone apparently grew up 40 years ago. We usually drive around looking for the homemade haunted houses and scary stuff. Where are the good neighborhoods to visit for the best experience? Places where people really get into it. I'm looking for the Halloween Windcrest.

I recall we had this same thread last year, or was it 2 years ago. I highly recommend my old neighborhood, aka Northwood/Northridge [Think inside Harry Wurzbach, Eisenhauer, Nacodoches and Loop 410]. I'm not saying it's the best, but it is/was pretty lively. Lots of trick or treaters go out of their way to to get there.

That was 4 years ago. Things may have changed.

S. San Horacio just south of Commerce. Load up the kids and take 'em on over there(take your gun too). :lol

It's pretty good still, but it's gotten progressively slower in the 4 years I've been here. I like it because the houses are on such big lots, by the time we walk around one block my kids are tired and want to go home....but it's the quality not the quantity, they usually come home well-stocked. :)

Mine like dressing up and handing out candy more than going out themselves, though....

My neighborhood still gets a lot. Quite a few kids around here. However, since it's on a Sunday this year and it's supposed to rain, I don't think we'll get a lot.

Olympia Hills by the Forum. Lots of people and they sometimes have a party at the elementary school.

I hate that.... just stay in YOUR own area..... I have enough kids running around my house without other people driving over and dropping their rugrats off!

I have a question. Why would trick-or-treating be done any day other than Oct 31? Is that how it works in Texas?

Um ... no. Trick or treating is always on October 31st no matter the day of the week it falls on.

It's always been that way no matter where I lived.

Good question, Kori.

Hear a whole bunch of...."Oh, shit! Honey, did you get any candy?!?" from the other side of the door.
