I have a Dell i9300 ... thought I've posted about it before.

Pentium M 1.6Ghz (Gonna upgrade this at some point ...)
2GB DDR2
60gig 7200rpm
GeForce 7800GTX Go (Yah, did the install myself)
17" UXGA+ ... 1920x1200, shit load of desktop space.

You might want to check out www.notebookforums.com as it's a good resource for dell information.

The new office computers are Dells (don't have the specs on me), and I've been quite happy with them so far.

If for any reason I felt like moving away from Gateway, which is what I've got at home and have been quite happy with, I'd probably go for a Dell.

lol... i already checked out notebookforums, they helped me make my decision on what laptop to get. how did you put your GPU in? i might upgrade it in a few weeks if its possible

New video card, battery and power strip ... $478.

But I made sure when I bought my laptop that it was the modular PCIE slot. If you ask around and find out if you can fight a 6800 non-ultra from a i9300, I'd be happy to sell you mine.

my dell is annoying me.

first i have 2 lines on the screen ( i think i know the cause, at least i hope)

two, my power cords keep dying, i think i have finally figured out that the power outlet is loose for soem reason as i have to keep it jerryrigged far to the right, putting pressure on it for it to work.

two is annoying me far greater than one, enough to where i nearly snapped today, especially when my old power cord snapped, literally.

What wireless network card did you get? If it's the Intel A/B/G, I'll give you a link to get a new one so that you remove that piece of crap from your computer.

mcornelio
09-12-2006, 06:54 PM
dell wireless 1390 wlan mini-card i removed it anyone, if i need it ill get it after but im not keeping any of this shit.... it makes the pc run like its a celeron at 300 mhz... so everything is gone until further notice, exept the mcafee antivirus.

I have a Dell XPS
P4 3.4 Ghz HT
2 Gigs DDR RAM
120 Gig HD
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

The things a gaming beast...I will probably get a new vid card for it though..but the 9800 Pro does the trick for now.

I have been very pleased with it & plan on buying a new XPS when I start my new job.

wow.. big p your shit probably weights like a ton.

Big P
09-12-2006, 07:30 PM
Its not as bad as you would think...I'm not saying its as light as a lap top, but it stays in one spot, so the weight doesn't really bother me..I do like the fact that it has 4 cooling fans & easy access to the inside, when I want to give it a cleaning.

Damn, I'm ready to buy a system and no one has released an nForce 590 board for Intel Core2 duo CPUs. :(

Here's what I'm planning so far

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo 6700 or Core 2 Extreme 6800 (leaning more to the 6700, but the 6800 is enticing)

GPUS:
2 Geforce 7950x2 (quad SLI setup, as soon as Asus releases their freaking nForce590 board)

MEM:
4 x mushkin eXtreme Performance 1GB DDR2 800

POWER:
PC Power and Cooling 1000 W RMS

HDS:
2 Western Digital Raptor X 150GB 10,000 RPM HDs (1 for Linux, 1 for Windows)
2 Maxtor 500 GB 7200 RPM HD (for data)

CASE:
I'm thinking of going with this case:
http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/11-112-093-02.jpg

I'm tempted to buy one of these physics processors too, but I wonder how many developers are going to support it:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121015

Not sure on audio or what water cooling I'll use yet.

Dell is the bomb. I would never get anything else ever again.

Yeah, Dell is the bomb ... which is why so many of them have exploded leading to the world's largest laptop recall ever.

Funny how HP, who used the same battery supplier (Sony), doesn't seem to have that problem. Then again, they actually have some engineers at HP.

CMG your a turd... the problem is with the actuall battery, they where made with some sort of excess micro- pieces of metal that can cause fire... they dont fucking blow up and its not dells fault... thank sony. hp sucks dick... boardroom scandal fuckers

You didn't address my point that both Dell and HP use the same LiOn battery supplier (Sony).

You wanna talk scandal, wait until the SEC and the NY Attorney General get done with their investigations into Dell's financials. But enjoy your new machine, anyway.

"For the record, this is a Dell machine," notes Gaston. "It is only a matter of time until such an incident breaks out on a plane," he suggests.

Obligatory.

all, and I mean ALL computers you buy from a company like Dell, HP or whever..... they SUCK. Overpriced pieces of crap only good for data processing at large companies who need lots of computers.

build your own, its cheaper and you get the individual warranty's for each part instead of having to send back in your whole computer for repair.

ah, the ignorance of people on web forums ...

in response to CMG - the issue is with Sony, that's why there is OTHER companies that recalled also, right dumbass? Or how about HPs CEO stepping down because of investigations they ordered on the media.

in response to phyzik - find me a laptop that has a 7800GTX, 7900GTX or 7950GTX in it that you can build yourself.

in response to spurster - you format the laptop ...
