The Chiefs' Trent Green (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=2547) has been released from a Kansas City area hospital and at his news conference Tuesday, coach Herman Edwards said the quarterback is "feeling much better."

"He's feeling a lot better and I think he'll feel a lot better when he gets home this afternoon. We'll see where he is from there. Obviously, he's out this week and then we'll see what happens after that," Edwards said.

A source close to Green told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the quarterback would miss at least the Chiefs' next two games.

"Players get hurt in this league and it's important not to rush him back. Every organization understands that. We have to make sure Trent is OK, that's the most important part," Edwards said.

Edwards said Green didn't say when he thought he could return.

"All he said was he felt sorry for me 'cause he couldn't finish the game for me. I told him not to worry about it. I feel sorry for you, I said, because every time I turn around something is wrong with the quarterback," Edwards said.

Both quarterbacks Chad Pennington (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5047) and Jay Fiedler (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3012) were lost for the season in 2005 when Edwards coach the Jets. Both quarterbacks were lost in the same game.

"[Green will] be fine. His spirit is good. That's a good sign," Edwards said Tuesday.

Losing Green for long could be devastating to the Chiefs. Starting at Denver will be journeyman Damon Huard (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4180), who until Sunday had not completed a pass in the NFL since Dec. 24, 2000. Behind Huard are rookies Brodie Croyle (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7834) and Casey Printers, who were both unimpressive in the preseason.

Green was injured Sunday in the Chiefs' loss to the Bengals.

Green was going feet-first into a hook slide right in front of the Chiefs bench. The Bengals' Robert Geathers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6876), possibly pushed from behind at least somewhat by Kansas City wide receiver Eddie Kennison (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3519), came flying in. Geathers' right shoulder slammed Green's chest and head and snapped the back of Green's head violently to the turf.

Officials did not call a foul, explaining to the enraged Chiefs sideline that Geathers' momentum had carried him into the player.

"In my opinion, I think it was a late hit. I think it was obviously a very vicious hit," Peterson said, "one that unfortunately Trent Green and the Kansas City Chiefs are paying a price for."

Herm is probably glad cause now he has an excuse to never pass the ball.

Damon Huard? Good God, wasn't Todd Blackledge available?

I hope he gets to play again rather than having a season end on his first game. That shit would suck.
