Here he comes to save the day (again!)

KARACHI - Osama bin Laden is on the move, and Tuesday's terror attack on the US Embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, could be a tangible result of this.

Exclusive information obtained by Asia Times Online shows that the al-Qaeda leader recently traveled from the South Waziristan tribal area in Pakistan to somewhere in the eastern Afghan provinces of Kunar and Nooristan, or possibly Bajour, a small tribal agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Area of Pakistan in North-West Frontier Province.

Well, people were saying the same about Demo's just 5 years ago, so I'll take that with a grain of salt.

Also, there's a safe haven in the trible regions now that the Pakistanis have, for all intensive purposes, abandoned the war on terra. Osama and other Al-Queda leaders, hell, even Omar Muhamed, the one-eyed former Taliban leader, can walk around free of fear of attack or arrest as long as they 'stay out of trouble'.

Bin Laden is the best thing Bush has. He needs the guy so much that might explain this story: (http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/14/barnes-osama/)

HOST: Alright Fred, you and a few other journalists were in the Oval Office with the President, right? And he says catching Osama bin Laden is not job number one?

BARNES: Well, he said, look, you can send 100,000 special forces, that’s the figure he used, to the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan and hunt him down, but he just said that’s not a top priority use of American resources. His vision of a war on terror is one that involves intelligence to find out from people, to get tips, to follow them up and break up plots to kill Americans before they occur. That’s what happened recently in that case of the planes that were to be blown up by terrorists, we think coming from England, and that’s the top priority. He says, you know, getting Osama bin Laden is a low priority compared to that.

Eh, that sounds awfully law enforcement like or something. Has the codpiece in chief turned into a pussy?

On another anti-terror matter, with Osama bin Laden still at large five years after the 9/11 attacks, Bush said he could not send thousands of troops into Pakistan to search without an invitation from the government. "Pakistan's a sovereign nation," Bush said.
