MSNBC has learned that U.S. officials have arrested TV reality star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two family members for extradition to Mexico.

Chapman's wife told MSNBC's Rita Cosby that heavily armed U.S. marshals arrived at the family's house today and took away Chapman, his brother, Tim, and son, Leland.

Cosby said she was told that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three-year-old case.

In 2003, the Chapmans went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges.

Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term, but at the time, the Chapmans were also jailed by Mexican authorities for a brief time three years ago.

Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.

At the time, the Chapmans were charged by Mexican authorities with illegally capturing Luster. The three returned to the United States after posting bail of their own.

Because the law appears to be set up to protect some sicko fucking serial rapist in this situation. Would the Mexican government and authorities prefer to have some serial rapist roaming free in their country? Or let a person do his job and hunt down this sick fuck and deliver him to the authorities, while at the same time ridding their country of one rapist.

Tell me who the law was supposed to be protecting in this situation? A serial rapist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!first of all, chill alright, I'm not the one arresting the guy, so calm down. Secondly, when it comes to international relations there are channels you have to go through, or is it you would rather have Mexicans come into the US to persue their criminals and breaking your laws while they are at it?

Look its simple, if bountyhunting is illegal in Mexico, then doing it means breaking the law. Its THEIR country, THEIR laws. If catching this rapist is so important then the right thing to do is ASK Mexico for assistance in deporting the SOB back to the States so he can be tried.

That would require catching the piece of shit first, you know hunting him down, like what a bounty hunter does.

So you think that they should have taken their sweet ass time and tried to go through the proper channels of a ridiculously corrupt and unorganized government while a serial rapist roams free?

Given the circumstances, you don't think that it would be a better idea for the Mexican authorities to just look the other way on this one? The bounty hunter did that country a favor as far as I'm concerned, he tracked down a serial rapist and took him out of their country. Something their authorities were less than qualified to do obviously.

If they are there for a reason then please explain to me what reason this law is there for? Please explain the spirit of this law to me. I'm sure it wasn't made to create asylum for a American serial rapists. After you get in too deep you are too proud to just admit that you are wrong. Just quit already.

I think it is hypocritical of the mexican gov. to pick and chose what they feel like allowing. If you are going to follow the law -= then do so, across the board. Otherwise don't be surprised when there becomes an expectation as to how things go down down there.

Exactly as I predicted. You act like everybody else gets so worked up when they disagree with you or call you out on something, but in reality it seems to be you that gets really bent out of shape. I've basically typed every word of every response in this thread with a grin on my face because I knew pretty much how stupid and defensive you would look in responding to my posts. It is absolutely hypocritical how you label everybody else as overreacting and taking things too serious. Quite comical.wow... lets see, you've called me a jackass, stupid and a retard so far in this thread, and I"M the one overreacting and being defensive??? what are you mentally challenged or something?? please let me know, so I can understand where you're coming from.

My one serious post: it doesn't matter what somebody has done in your country, you still have to respect the laws of other countries. Otherwise, you're just practicing imperialism.

What if a Saudi policeman came over here and chopped off somebody's hand for a crime committed in Saudi Arabia?

Manu, I'd hate to break this to you, but you are being baited........hook, line and sinker into an argument you can't possibly win because there isn't an argument to be had besides, "you shutup" "No, you shutup".

I think it's a little closed minded to just say that he committed a crime and can be arrested regardless of another countries laws.

I mean could you imagine if someone from Mexico came into the United States, assumed the functions of local law enforcement and detained someone, and then attempted to illegally extradite them to another country?

Dog did all that and also fled the jurisdiction without the permission of the presiding judge.

Even according to US Law a bounty hunter cannot pursue a fugitive across international borders, and as such was not a bounty hunter when he entered Mexico and essentially kidnapped Luster.

And to say that people have been able to enter Mexico and kidnap people without repercussions would be totally wrong.

The fucked up thing in this situation is that the US Marshals actually turned Dog over to the Federales. WTF? Dog went and got them one of their most wanted, and this is how he gets repaid?

Why are we extraditing people to Mexico when they don't extradite with us? I don't understand that one bit.

Sucks for Dog, but I'm sure he can throw money at the problem and it'll go away. In fact, I'll bet thats why this is happening. Someone down there figured they could get some cash out of this.

It might have something to do with the time that US DEA Officers went into Mexico and kidnapped a fugitive without filling for extradition or notifying Mexican authorities, I think the US is still trying to make up for that and Mexico is still pissed...

That is a terrible analogy. Could you imagine the U.S. not cooperating with the Mexican government in attempt to apprehend a violent and dangerous criminal? The U.S. isn't in the habit of knowingly letting serial rapists roam free?

If the U.S. was ever as crooked and incompentent as the Mexican government is and allowed this rapist to continue on freely after he fled here from Mexico, I would hope that they would come and apprehend their rapist and get out of my country. Your analogy sucks ass because U.S. authorities would never allow a violent criminal to use their country as a refuge from justice.

Beautiful Disaster
09-14-2006, 08:41 PM
That would require catching the piece of shit first, you know hunting him down, like what a bounty hunter does.

So you think that they should have taken their sweet ass time and tried to go through the proper channels of a ridiculously corrupt and unorganized government while a serial rapist roams free?

Given the circumstances, you don't think that it would be a better idea for the Mexican authorities to just look the other way on this one? The bounty hunter did that country a favor as far as I'm concerned, he tracked down a serial rapist and took him out of their country. Something their authorities were less than qualified to do obviously.

The Mexican laws are there to protect the mordita system. They are only enforced if you don't pay. The Factor guy was paying big bribes to stay there unmolested at the local and state level at a minimum, and probably at the national level as well. Dog screwed that deal up for them and you can be sure they are going to make an example of him. It will suck to be him.
