It is pretty hard to swallow the fact that our government can think that the freedoms of people in other countries are worth billions of dollars and the lives of our servicemen, but our service men aren't worth the extra $ (hundreds of thousands/millions?) to upgrade their armor?

The ad has been retooled and will run against Rick Santorum who voted for the same bill as Allen...

What's interesting to note is that the vote was only to table the bill. Allen did vote in on a later bill (#400) that provided emergency supplemental funds for the troops to the tune of $87B.

You are correct but if it works people will do it. I remember when I first heard Kerry's quote about voting for the 87 bill before he voted against it.. I was listening to the sean whannity show and he played the clip.. of course whannity jumped on it.. my initial thought was "what in the hell was kerry thinking".. I had no idea on the context of the statement until a few days later when I actually heard Kerry's whole statement which was in effect that he voted for the bill but then decided to protest a provision in the bill reagrding money for Iraq to pay back vs just giving them the money... he also said that if his vote would have been the difference between the vote passing or not he would have voted for it but since it was going to pass by a wide margin he decided to vote against it....

didn't stop the GOP from just cherry picking his statements and using them out of context to beat Kerry over the head with them.

my point being that the GOP got real good at highliting Kerry's voting record and making claims like the one concerning Allen and Santorum..
