The Spurs added former Arkansas guard Olu Famutimi to their training-camp roster on Tuesday. Famutimi, 6-foot-5, averaged 6.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 47 games in the NBA's Developmental League last season.

The Spurs have 20 players on their roster, 14 of whom have guaranteed contracts.

Well, I can say he was the key loss last year when he thought he'd get drafted but didn't. Him plus Brewer was going to be our coming back party.

Anyhoo, as it worked out he played for the NBDL Arkansas Rimrockers for a while and he was pretty good. He's very physical and well conditioned for his size plus has quick hands. I don't know about him fitting into the Spurs system, and I'm almost sure he won't anyways.

why do we keep on signin players undersized?

I remember he lit up the Toros pretty good off the bench late in the season, but that was when Ezra Williams was injured and An_re Emmett was logging heavy minutes. looks like he "developed" quite well as the season went on, but he has no three point shot. Maybe another year in the D-League....
why do we keep on signin players undersized? He is not a signing for this season. We have pretty much the best tweener projects available for the minimum as it is.

6-5 is not undersized for a SG, and certainly not for a PG. How big do you want your guards? :lol

Funny, Melvin Sanders was taken in the second round of the D-League expansion draft. Looks like someone thinks he'll be available this coming season.

No Toros were taken, which is pretty interesting in itself.

Interesting.

I don't think the Spurs will carry 15 this year unless someone is simply outstanding in camp/pre-season.

Yeah, I got my fingers crossed for Jamar but I think I'll see him in Austin again this November.

Ok, only players from the defunct teams were drafted, so it's more of a dispersal draft than a true expansion draft.

Bakersfield actually made some great picks. If they sign four of these guys they could have one of the best teams in the league off the bat.

Interesting that Hiram got taken in the first round -- he's going to Jazz training camp.

The best players are all over the board. Maybe they're just guessing who might come back to the D-League next season.

I like this kid. He is clearly being brought in to give the Spurs another camp guy, but he's a pretty strong player.

Yep!

I remember during the 2003 playoffs he kill the Spurs from long distance and was him who made the Spurs struggle in that series.

Jacobsen was an excellent pickup by the Rockets.

6'5 is not enough to stop Josh Howard

Do you want to have 6 "Howard stopper" as training camp invite ?
Spurs still have Melzer, Smith and Williams as tweener SF/PF : it's way enough. You need players who plays PG, SG and C for practice purpose.

That means basically 6 players contending for the 15th roster slot and the 15th slot may not even be available (M. Sanders, R. Melzer, J. Smith, J. Reiner, C. Lee, O. Famutimi).
