SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have promoted Sam Presti to vice president/assistant general manager.

“Sam has done a tremendous job for the San Antonio Spurs organization,” said Spurs General Manager R.C. Buford. “His contributions have played a great role in our success and we are pleased to offer him this promotion.”

The Concord, Massachusetts native first started with the Spurs during the summer of 2000 as an intern in the basketball operations department. He has since risen through the ranks, moving from basketball special assistant to assistant director of scouting to director of player personnel. Presti’s most recent promotion was in September of 2005 when he was named assistant general manager.

"I am extremely honored to be a part of the Spurs organization," said Presti. "I thoroughly enjoy working with such a talented and dedicated staff. We are all fortunate to have a group of terrific players, who are also wonderful people."

I think they are running out of titles to give the dude... I mean, what is there thats left - MD, GM, Owner...

Why not just title him 'Pretty much the most awesome guy that works here'

But bloody hell, its not like its not deserved!

What road would you need to take to follow this kind of career?

The road less traveled, to be sure. You could e-mail Sam and ask him that question. I think his e-mail link is posted on Spurs.com.

He's a rare talent. He played ball and was a 4-year letterman in college, including captain of his team and was a MVP of the small-college league he played in at Emerson. He's also been blessed with a high level of intellegence, energy and self-confidence. The rest is up to his creativity, maybe having a connection or two, and applying what he knows to his job with his God-given talent.
