Dajuan Wagner to sign with Warriors

Friday, September 22, 2006

Former Camden High School basketball star Dajuan Wagner has agreed to a two-year contract with the NBA's Golden State Warriors.

Wagner's agent, Cherry Hill attorney Leon Rose, said Wagner would sign with the Warriors and report to their training camp in early October.

Wagner, the state's all-time leading scorer in boys' basketball with more than 3,400 career points, sat out of basketball last season with health issues.

Wagner underwent surgery for colitis in November.

Wagner was a four-time All-South Jersey player at Camden, graduating in 2001. He played one season at the University of Memphis.

Wagner was the No. 6 overall pick in the NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2002. He played three seasons for the Cavaliers but his playing time was limited by a series of injuries and by illness.

I think Dajuan might be pretty good if he can come back, get into shape, and play up to his potential. That's alot of if's.

I'm interested to see if his contract is guaranteed because if he is guaranteed, it will likely mean that they will waive Devin.

DaJuan >>> Devin. I have a hard time thinking the Spurs will bring back Devin, even if he's cut. They already have 14 guaranteed contracts, and are bumping up against, if not a bit over the luxury tax.

That'll get them into the playoffs.

Agree
Wagner >> Devin At least Wagner has some potential.

His game never developed other than a guy who just wanted to go down the court and shoot. He has scoring skills and he can be explosive offensively but plays no defense and will play out of a team concept. But Devin will never be more than a bench player not worthy of big minutes.

If he can outplay Monta Ellis - which I seriously doubt.
