Maybe Hedo just has extra confidence as the returning league MVP. Maybe if we had stripped Duncan of his team captain status and given it to Hedo along with Tim's spot in the lineup, we could have seen this kind of effort from him on a nightly basis. It's obvious the Spurs didn't do a good enough of job of coddling him.
