I will make the obligatory call to anyone on here that might be able to do something, but if not, its no biggie. It has been 8 years since my last so I will do probation and be done with it.

:lol Damn cops. I'm pretty sure you'll have to pay the fine, it's pretty hard to get away from a speeding ticket. However, if you go to traffic court, you may be able to take off the points from the tickets...hence you're insurance would't be as affected.

Just do the defensive driving thing, plus i think it can lower your car insurance somewhat.

hire a lawyer to represent you or go downtown to the courthouse and have it plea bargained down to 3 months probation.

shouldnt be any problem since you havent had anything in so long.

I can just get the probation and not hire a lawyer, and I wont have to waste away another day by going to the DD

and yeah it was in the Jag

Deferred Adjudication is what you were looking for.

Just tell the judge that you'll go as fast as you damn well please and if he (she) has a problem with that he can just suck your balls. You won't have to worry about insurance if you do that.

I always thought you could ask to allowed to take defensive driving and it would be taken off the record.....although you coould only do this so many times during a certain period of time.

You can take DD once a year... and now you can even take it at home on the internet. I got a seat belt ticket in 2003 and took the DD at home. It ended up being cheaper than paying the ticket and didn't impact my insurance. As a matter of fact, I took a copy of the DD certificate you get to the insurance company (state farm) and they gave me a discount.

I think online would be great. You take it at your leisure..... That's how i took mine when I did mine for insurance...

it used to be hella cheaper to take DD - now for a not overly fast ticket they aren't far apart in price.
