I heard on KSAT that the guys leave for Paris on Friday, Sept 29 th.


They have practice games in Lyon, France on October 5th and in Paris on October 8th.

The San Antonio Spurs will leave San Antonio on Sept. 29 and head to France for training camp. The team will hold camp in Lyon (Oct. 1-5) and play a game against the French team Adecco ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne at the Astroballe on Oct. 5. The team will then travel to Paris for a game against two-time Euroleague Basketball Champions Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv on Oct. 8.

The first thing that came to my mind was "P-I-M-P" for Beno with the glasses. :lmao

I use to be excited this time of year in the past. This season for some reason I am not excited at all. Not neccesarily cause of the acquisitions or lack thereof, but because the team is basically the same type of team that can win 57+ in the regular season if healthy, and it mostly will come down to playoff time. Plus you know what your going to get from this team. Elite defense, solid but not elite offense.

Some things I am looking forward to.

#1 If Duncan can return to 2002-2005 form. I really want the old Duncan back. The one who dominated vs the Mavericks, the one who dominated in the REGULAR season in 02,03,04, and 05.

#2 Parker improving.

#3 Ginobili staying healthy and not losing his productivity -- I am really worried about this to be honest. He isn't coming in this season with confidence, and there always a chance of injury or having to limit his minutes even more. The more his minutes are limited, the worse off the team will be in terms of regular season dominance.

#4 The new acquisitions. I don't know what to expect really. I hope Buter improves into a quality big man who plays 33+mpg. But well see.

Quick observations for the team hotel, the Hilton Lyon.

*Bruce Bowen, Michael Finley brought their wives. We saw the hanging out in the shopping complex that is part of the hotel.

*Brent Barry has traded the surfer long locks--to a military buzz cut. It looks cool--think Gregg Popovich around 1999-2000.

*No sign of Tim, Pop or Manu. Spurs PR guru Tom James says most of the guys just crashed after flying into Lyon earlier today. The team's first official practice is tomorrow morning (10:30-Lyon time, which is 3:30am back in SA).

*I've heard (nothing confirmed) that Tony Parker is not here in Lyon, at least not today. From what we understand, Tony decided to stay in Paris overnight, and watch his younger brother play hoops.

We did catch a glimpse of a couple of new Spurs, having the typical tourist in France problems. Rich Melzer was trying to exchange money. By the way, if somebody can email the quickest way to turn Euros into U.S. dollars--my bosses would be greatly appreciative. (On a side note--Mark, is a $20 cup of coffee out of the budget?--ha, ha..)

Jared Reiner was asking for taxi help, and specifically--how much a taxi would cost to go to downtown Lyon. I teased him, saying--a big NBA star shouldn't be price hunting. Then I remembered that Reiner is a free agent, just trying to make the team. :lol

*No sign of Tim, Pop or Manu. Spurs PR guru Tom James says most of the guys just crashed after flying into Lyon earlier today. The team's first official practice is tomorrow morning (10:30-Lyon time, which is 3:30am back in SA).

*I've heard (nothing confirmed) that Tony Parker is not here in Lyon, at least not today. From what we understand, Tony decided to stay in Paris overnight, and watch his younger brother play hoops.

We did catch a glimpse of a couple of new Spurs, having the typical tourist in France problems. Rich Melzer was trying to exchange money. By the way, if somebody can email the quickest way to turn Euros into U.S. dollars--my bosses would be greatly appreciative. (On a side note--Mark, is a $20 cup of coffee out of the budget?--ha, ha..)

Jared Reiner was asking for taxi help, and specifically--how much a taxi would cost to go to downtown Lyon. I teased him, saying--a big NBA star shouldn't be price hunting. Then I remembered that Reiner is a free agent, just trying to make the team. :lol
