Sure thing... What I did was simple, but I don't know of anyone else who has done it (because most people are instant gratification junkies). While I was in college at UT and graduate school I worked full time and made pretty decent money. I bought a good used car paid it off after a year and a half. At that point I had an idea - instead of going out and buying a new $20,000 car at roughly a $400 a month note (with good credit), I decided to keep driving the car I had already paid for. What I did different is this - I went ahead and made a car payment every month like if I had a new car, but instead of paying on a note this money went into a mid-yield, very liquid money market account. While in school I only put in $150 a month, but after graduation I began making more money and was able to put back $500 a month. This was in 2000 when I started the account, and have been putting back $500 a month (as if I had a new car payment) since mid 2002. Do the math - now over $30,000 in the account. With my trade in and extra cash down it's going to be higher. After I purchase the car I will continue to make the payments in the account like before and start over again. In 5 years (typical car note period) I will have over $30,000 in the account again - but this time a nice, entry level luxury vehicle for a trade in.

I basically turned the usual situation around - instead of paying a bank interest on money I borrowed from them to purchase a car I am getting interest payments from the bank to let them borrow my money while I save for the car. It's like a lease without the ballon payment and all the bullshit. The only difficulty is the first few years, but after your initial purchase you get to have a brand new car every 4 to 5 years and never owe a penny to anyone. Even if you can't afford the $500 payment - a $300 one will still earn you enough for a decent new car in a few years.

GTO is fun to drive, but isn't much more impressive in the looks department than a Pontiac Grand Am. The G35 is very nice. I'm not an Acura fan, so I've never tried the TL.

I like the TT's, but I am waiting for a new design. The current one has been the same for years and it resembles a VW bug too much for my tastes.

Also, I like the fact that it's very roomy inside for a roadster. Being tall and having long legs, that's a concern for me. When I went test driving the sports cars, there were a lot that I would have loved if it weren't for the fact that I couldn't fit with the top up.

I'm seriously considering it. The 350CLK is a little more than I wanted to pay, but I might as well put a little more to get a really nice ride. Of all the designs I have seen it's the one I like the most.
