venue: Clarence D. Martin
time: 7:00pm Eastern
line: USC -17
thoughts: WSU is on a roll and SC looks to be without all-world receiver Jarrett. could be much closer than most expect.
prediction: USC 35 WSU 21

i see. nevertheless, USC will win. btw, its also a bold pick since you said, yourself, that USC was one of the two best teams in the nation.
Ark. looks good and USC is once again one of the top two teams in the country. Tough schedule ahead for both...
...ah, here it is.

i disagree with the two bad showings. wsu was below average. i think arizona was decent. our defense completely shut them down. what was it- 19 yards or so rushing? our offense wasn't the best, but it still scored 20 even with all the dropped passes.

How is it WSU was in til the end...literally.
I KNOW this because I'd teased the line down with a 13pt-4 team teaser & SC was -4.
I was sweating that last drive.
HORRIBLE offensive showing when you consider whom we're speaking of Kewl.
We aren't speaking of a team in the top 25 or your average recruiting class filled roster.
SC's roster is HEAVILY LADEN with 5-star prospects & they haven't exploded the past couple of weeks.

IMO, as I'd said before...SC's O line is NOT where it should be.

i agree that the wsu game wasn't good enough. for whatever reason we didn't play well. but i don't think the arizona game was horrible. had our defense not stepped up, then it would have been. but i agree that with the players we have we should be doing better even if we have been on the road alot (3 of 4). i'm hoping that injuries are the main reason. we looked pretty good in the first 2 games, but have lost it a bit since. getting sedrick ellis back should really help on the defense because we are so thin at that spot with travis tofi out also. we won't recover fully from losing pinkard, but i think we can be okay. on offense, once jeff byers returns from having a cyst removed i think that will help (of course, rachal might not play this week either). losing mcfoy for 6 weeks really really hurts, but it will give turner a chance to show his stuff. the biggest loss overall has been that of ryan powdrell (and it shows, he had a huge game against arkansas). and unfortunately that is for the season and his backup (the freshman havili) is out for 4 weeks. so i guess the point is that some people are going to have to step up big soon or else. and hopefully by the end of october when some players return we will have a concrete picture of what exactly this team is.
and in no way am i placing all the blame on the variety of injuries. the fact is that there hasn't been a player(s) on offense or defense who has CONSISTENTLY stepped up. i'm giving it a few weeks for some players to return and for everyone to get a feel. right now i would say the top 5 (but obviously not 1), but i think we have alot of room for improvement. whether that happens, i don't know.

I'm glad to see a Trojan outside of my Corps buddy be able to discuss this with intelligence & not just some moronic post like, "USC will win the national championship, not t.u."
Kewl, ever go onto any other SC sites?
When I was in LA last month got a chance to see the story of SoCalSugar & see the posts on a site like Rivals & Scout.
Gotta hand it to real Trojans fans, they get some good intelligent conversations going AND I haven't seen a single one of them claim another school as their team, they stick by the Trojans all the way.
The Men of Troy & their true fans have my respect.

I definitely thought they were after the ARK game. They seem to be coming back to earth and holes in the O Line are somewhat glaring. Now I'd have to drop them behind Mich, OSU, and probably AUB. This is a great year because I think anyone in the top 10 can be capable of beating anyone else on any given day. WVU looks solid although it's hard to tell until they face off with Louisville. This one's wide open, and by seasons end there could be a completely different top 5 or 6 in the country.

i visit wearesc.com, but i don't post. one message board (this one) is enough for me. alot of the people there have seats around mine in the thundering herd, which is by far the best area in the coliseum. besides that, i visit a couple of blogs just for news.
