View Full Version : TEXAS vs ou

Red River Shootout once again goes to Texas.
Yeah yeah, some will think that each school's fans will automatically pick their team to win.
You'd have to be a senseless IDIOT to think ou wins this one though.

Alright Scott, the time of reckoning, and derby days, is upon us.
Let's see. I say we make a wager about rushing yards. UT total vs OU total. If Ut wins, you have to put that Bill Gates picture in your sig for the rest of the season. What do you say?

I'm feeling pretty good about this game as long as we can execute in the red zone and not turn the ball over. I definitely think this will be a close game for us, thinking a win somewhere around 20-13. I know one thing for sure, I won't be able to sleep Friday night, never can before a big game for UT.

peterman ran for 216 against Oregon. Loss after questionable ref calls.
143 against UAB. Win after questionable ref calls.
222 against TU last year. Damn near lost that one.
155 against Neb last year. Damn near lost that one.
148 against atm last year. Almost let atm win that one.
117 against tek. Loss.
255 2 years ago at OSU. Dropped TD pass from losing and missed FG from a tie.

you haven't played anybody except Ohio State...and they worked you guys. i don't think iowa state is anywhere near as good as OU, so i would not get too excited about a 70% completion % (sam houston state & rice). however, keep in mind, i picked t.u. to win.

That tells me right there you haven't a clue. Aside from two Texas mistakes (stupid Pittman fumble and McCoy INT, which gave tOSU points and momentum), the game was about even. Look at the stats if you don't believe me (see below). BTW, UT has rushed the most against tOSU this season so far. It'd been more if Davis was even a halfway decent OC and stuck with the ground game up the middle.

^^ I love that you brought that up. People forget that Texas moved the ball very well in that Ohio State game. They just couldn't finish the job. The game changed as soon as Billy fumbled the ball otherwise, Texas would have went up 7-0 and who knows how the game would have went. But Texas still had chance after chance to come back in that game. OSU didn't blow it open until the last quarter.

All I can say is wow and spoken like someone who knows jack crap about sports. The stats say it all. Just like the commentators said after the Ohio State-Penn State game...the scoreboard did not tell the story. If it fits in that game, it fits in the UT-OSU game. Obviously they don't show many UT football games in Oregon. This fool hasn't watched UT play all year and is making ridiculous statements. The team that played OSU was short a starting CB and had a freshman QB making his first start against anyone other than North Texas. This UT team handles OU easily by at least 14 and will be fully capable of beating OSU, USC, or any other team in the nation by the end of the year. It takes time for youth to mature and come together as a team, and OSU better thank the scheduling that they played UT the 2nd game of the year and not the 10th.

BeerIsGood!
10-04-2006, 05:23 PM
UT won't have to have their refs come in and screw OU. UT gives up approx. 30 ypg on the ground so far, and held ISU's touted RB in check. OU has no passing game and if they try to rely on Peterson to win the game for them they are going to get blasted by 20+. The Texas D is 2nd in the nation against the run and has really had two weeks to prepare for OU. Stick to ducks and beavers and leave the real football to TEXAS guys...

No amount of spinning facts on the internet will determine the winner this Saturday. If Texas manages to win this year, I'll do what I've only been willing to do twice in the last 6 years: congratulate UT (those 2 times, last year's wins versus OU and USC). Vince Young had 1 win versus OU and 2 losses. Is he 1/3 as good as you thought? Benson was 0 for 3 or 0 for 4 versus OU, depending on how you want to view Mack choosing not to play him. I guess Cedric is 0% as good as you once thought.

Coaches, AP voters and Vegas seem to think Oregon is a "real" team. Sorry you don't agree. Texas has only played 1 real team and they lost by 17 at home, so you'd be wise to avoid the "Oklahoma hasn't played anyone" arguements. The D has been the weak point so far for OU, you are right. Yet we are only allowing 28 yards a game more than Ohio State, the D UT managed to only put 7 on.

Isn't this whole thread about UT and OU. Moron
Not Texas's fault USC had trouble with WASHINGTON ST., and don't try and say they are good competition. They have beaten Idaho and only beat BAYLOR by 2 points
I'll put this in terms that even a Marriott from Victoria can comprehend. If UT throws more than twenty times, we're fucked. Period. This game is all about our NFL-sized D-Line stopping A-Pete and UT running the ball forty times. Letting our freshman 2A All-State QB start throwing against OU is a recipe for disaster.
Colt's a pretty good QB but remember, he isn't even Dennis Dixon at this point in his career.
Texas 24, OU 16.

Texas quarterbacks have an incredibly horrible history of first matchups against OU. Course this factoid is considering texas' 2004 game loss a vince loss and not a chance mock loss.

btw, BeerIsGood, you gotta be on some serious crack to think that by the end of the year t.u. will be able to beat USC and OSU...thats just stupid. are you basing that on getting whooped by OSU and then beating a bunch of crappy schools...good logic there man. :lol

...but you did beat crappy schools, and then an OU team (today) that had 5 turnovers and outgained you by 100 yards. is t.u. good...yeah, they are. but they are not a top 5 team. answer me this? what happens if they play again and OU does not have all those turnovers? t.u. probably wins by a field goal; they still are not a top 5 team.
i'd put them @ 6 behind:
1. ohio state
2. USC (healthy)
3. michigan
4. florida
5. west virginia
...and if Georgia wins today i'd put them behind the dogs as well. can't put a one loss team ahead of an undefeated team in the SEC.

You're delusional. OU's best weapon this game was Greg Fucking Davis. With a good play caller UT is up at least 21 - 0, 21-7, or 28-7 at halftime on route to another big blowout. OU D gave up 6 yards on a QB sneak. That tells you all you need to know about who is the dominant line, and if you control the line of scrimmage you control the game. 5 TO, but only 1 wasn't forced, and Greg Fucking Davis didn't take advantage of the ones that were.
Listen closely here........
If UT played USC next weekend UT WOULD WIN by at least 7 points. And that's given the Greg Fucking Davis factor. Without Greg Fucking Davis it would be at least 14 to 17. Fact.

UT will not be able to stop Peterson. OU will win this easily.
UT is not a "very good" team this year. OU wins this easily.
Was Texas a good team when Peterson ran for over 200 as a freshman in a 12-0 win for OU?
Ooops.

two things:
1. you put too much weight in your victory over ou, ou had 5 turnovers...and the argument you forced them is garbage. cause whether you forced them or not, if you played ou again they would not have 5 turnovers...you're not 18 points better than them, but you are better
2. USC has been riddled with injuries, if you even were able to keep the game close it would only be b/c of that

if you're gonna make a confident statement don't backdoor it like that. did you see some of those hits on the OU fumbles? most of those were forced. i haven't seen a game with hitting that hard in a while.

..thats true, you did cause a majority of them. but the fact remains its uncharacteristic of ou to have 5 fumbles and highly unlikely it would happen again. you're not 18 points better than ou.

:lmao :lmao :lmao
Uncharacteristic for OU to have 5 turnovers, 4 forced? True. Maybe they had them because the Texas defense is just that much better and hits that much harder than anyone else they have come against in a long time. Something I've said for a while. Learn something about football so you can stop completely contradicting yourself... rookie.

...if you could read, which you clearly cannot...then you would comprehend what i said and in what context it was used. i never said t.u. did not force turnovers in that game...i simply explained why t.u. is not 18 points better than OU. more like 7, if both teams played to their capabilities.

So saying "and the argument you forced them (turnovers) is garbage" is not saying Texas did not force turnovers. Did the definition of "garbage" change overnight? Do the rules of the english language cease to exist on your keyboard? If you could write, which you clearly cannot... then you would have not used the phrase above if you actually believe Texas forced the turnovers. You said something stupid because you probably didn't watch but 5 mintues of the game, and now you are in here trying to make statements about things you don't know. Just admit it and move on. You know nothing about this Texas team because you didn't watch them play. The only other explanation is that you watched the game but know absolutely nothing about football. Wouldn't surprise me, but I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. I'm trying to say you are just a blow-hard and not a complete idiot. Accept it and Appreciate getting the benefit of the doubt.

allright Big Green grad:
this is what i wrote above:
"two things:

...thats pretty clear. i am obviously saying that it does not matter whether t.u. forced them or not, b/c if the two teams played again OU would not have 5 turnovers (highly unlikely). but as you know, anybody can pick and choose sentences written and then post and create spin to where it appears the writer meant another thing. but, if you READ my entire post, which you obviously are incapable of, then you would see clearly what i meant.
btw, i watched a majority of the t.u. vs. OU game, as i flipped back and forth with SC vs. UDub. hey, t.u. is a good team, they just aren't 18 points better than OU.

Saying Matt Leinart is better than Vince Young doesn't get you 4 extra points.
Jocking Reggie Bush and rooting for UT to lose during the regular season doesn't earn you 4 extra points.
You lost, face it and get on with your lives and stop trolling the board with would ofs, should ofs, and could ofs. History can not be changed. UT beat the suppossedly best team in college football history.

Let's see here... if we take a look at these two sentences alone then you contradict yourself right there. If you believe it's garbage, then there is no way that the TOs could have been forced. You made a half ass statement, probably because you really couldn't believe the nonsense you were writing - even as you wrote it. You wrote that knowing it wasn't true, and your way of getting out of it was to make a half ass statement to give yourself an out. Good Job...
