"After playing 3 of its first 4 on the road, No. 3/2 USC returns to the comforts of the Coliseum for a 2-game homestand, with hot Washington up first. The Trojans, who have won 49 of their last 51 games, bring in some awe-inspiring winning streaks: 28 home games, 25 Pac-10 games and 19 Pac-10 home games (all are Pac-10 records), as well as 16 consecutive October victories. Troy has also scored at least 20 points in an NCAA-record 56 straight contests. It's USC's only day game in the Coliseum this season, the fewest in 100 years."

thoughts: Washington is playing some very good football at the moment and USC does not appear to be at the top of their game. Injuries have limited SC as well as replacing key offensive players from last season. however, SC usually starts slow and builds as the year progresses. i expect a better showing from the Trojans at home as well as players better understanding their roles...Trojans will get stronger and stronger each game (barring injuries).

prediction: USC 35
UDub 10

I can't wait for when the Ducks play at USC. That will be USC's first loss.

...careful what you wish for...and you might want to focus on this week. i think Cal is going to beat Oregon in a CLASSIC. but, if USC continues to play like they are human then they could easily lose to Oregon or Cal...thankfully there is ample time to get back on track before those games.

i'd love to go to a few games this year, but i am not sure with my schedule yet. i will be moving out of Texas here in a little while and if i can i will head out to LA and hopefully see a couple games with my friends.

last game i was at was the Rose Bowl last year...i jinxed 'em! anyway, my roommate's (college) dad worked for USC and we used to get tickets from him...but he passed away of a heart attack a couple years ago...very sudden and unexpected. so we'll see...

enjoy the game! fight on.

Damn, that was a fucked up 2 seconds

USC escapes yet again. I doubt they escape against Arizona State next week. Arizona State is a lot better than Washington and Washington State.

USC has to be the most overrated team in the country right now. Not nearly the #2 team they will probably be placed at since Auburn lost.

I'm sure JWG still thinks Texas isn't a top 5 team.

Yup, Texas or Ohio State would kill USC.

...i am not OK, and neither is USC football. we just cannot escape the injury bug. Steve Smith left the game due to injury and Jarrett did not play as well...add that to our long list of injured personel.

a TD called back did not help as well. but if you look at SC's season, they beat ARK 50-14 then beat Nebraska 28-10 since then injuries have really plagued the teams ability to stay consistant. i just hope we can get through ASU next week and then get that much needed bye week. we don't have the auroa of invincibility like we did in the beginning of the year...

...you don't know anything about USC, else you would not make that statement. it is clear that SC's play has dived since the first two games b/c of the amazing amount of injuries we have sustained. and i don't want to hear 1) t.u. has dealt with injuries 2) injuries are part of the game....whatever, almost 30 injuries are going to affect a team. its an unfortunate string of events...

Who cares :lol they shouldn't be pussies and get injured or not play

I played my whole sophmore season with a broken wrist in a cast and I was the running back. So that is a bunch of crap.

USC does NOT look like a team that would be in the NC Championship game. But then again, from what I have seen from UT, they dont either. I dont think either of last years Rose Bowl teams will be playing for a Championship this year.

Then they arn't the true #2 team in the country right now. If you think they are the number 2 team in the country RIGHT NOW, injuries or not they should be winning these games by a lot more.

...right now, then, i guess they are not. but they won't drop, thankfully, b/c of the injuries...and if we can just get past ASU i think the team will be good to go.

no way asu is better than uw or wsu. carpenter has lost all confidence.

i don't think we are the #2 team (probably florida), but last week everyone was talking about how auburn deserved it... and then they go and lose to arkansas at home.

a few observations:

1. not having a fullback is killing us. fred davis is having to block too much.
2. losing steve smith to an ankle sprain was not good. but x-rays were negative thankfully.
3. the refs weren't sharp at all. especially when it came to putting the ball into play.
4. willingham sure likes to stand on the field.
5. i am not a fan of our play calling at times.

I'm not completely sold on Booty. It seems that he has trouble making loft passes. Also, his passes coming from the 3-step drop, always seem to get tipped.

i remember hearing that even in spring practices (before his surgery) he was having problems with tipped passes.

Right now USC would probably lose to everyone in the top 7 except Aub. and possibly WVU (just don't know what they have). Florida is impressive if not somewhat screwball with the Tebow situation and OSU is extremely solid. Michigan is solid but will probably not make it past OSU. USC has Oregon (who is overrated) and Cal (who is hitting stride now). My guess is they squeak past Oregon and lose to Cal. But I don't know enough about these teams to really make an educated guess. USC may lose to ND if they keep playing like this.

...right now, they probably would. but you just don't get it, USC has had a million injuries and its obvious that their play is suffering for it. look, they beat ARK badly, then Nebraska badly, and then have struggled...its not b/c the team is not very good, its b/c they can't get away from the injury bug.

by the time USC plays Oregon and Cal, they should be Fairly healthy. plus, you underrate Washington and Washington State.

I can't apologize for the obvious.
USC very well could be overrated, no matter the excuses.
A top 3 team should play like a top 3 team always. ESPECIALLY vs teams NOT IN the top 20-25.
No excuses.
