I have always made fun of Royals fans because they are like a farm club of amazing past players that have gone on to bigger and better things (Bletran, Dye, Damon, etc).

There was an interesting convo on E$PN radio last night during the yankmes game about former strobes. I only caught bits and pieces of it, but who are some players that have come thru that have done well after they left or the team just couldn't keep? Or at the very least someone they could have used.

Abreu, Beltran, Kent, Johan Santana, Wagner, Luis Gonzalez, Moises Alou, Melvin Mora, Wade Miller

Who else?

wade miller hasn't done jack since he left. the biggio situaton made it hard to keep kent, dude is very clutch though. beltran's agent is boras, and i think abreu and santana never played in the bigs for the stros. freddy garcia was in the org at one point too, randy johnson was with us for half a season. prospects are just that, prospects - tim redding tore up the minors himself... you never know what you have and sometimes you can't wait if what seems like a good offer is on the table.

Abreu played in the big leagues for the Astros, but was exposed in the 1998 expansion draft and selected by Tampa Bay -- of course the Rays turned around and dealt Abreu to Philadelphia straight up for Kevin Stocker.

As an aside "Strobes" is about as fresh as Mav fans referring to San Antonio's basketball team as the "Spurms." Which is to say, not at all.

Yeah I don't get the Strobes reference either.

I said at the time, the Astros were gonna regret not paying Beltran his money, and ever since then, IMO, they have.

Beltran had no intention of coming back to Houston. The real regret should be letting his agent lead us on for so long, which led to losing Jeff Kent.

Yup. They are both in the post season. Even worse, no way they bring back Biggio unless he takes a HUGE pay cut.
