Breakout player: Everybody already knows Tony Parker is a very good player, but this is the season he becomes a great one, and the combination with Tim Duncan raises the Spurs to another level of excellence.
Best rookie: The Mavericks have a real talented young guard in Devin Harris, and he'll be the best rookie in the division but not ready to run a team with aspirations to go deep into the playoffs.
Best coach: There is no more consistent coach in the NBA than Gregg Popovich, who stays strident with his defensive focus and patient offensive scheme every year.
Best acquisition Now that the Rockets have added Tracy McGrady to pair with Yao Ming, they have the most dynamic inside/outside duo in the league.
