Been busy lately. Some may remember my Lakers Breakdown for Hoopsworld early this summer, well now they've hired me. I focus on the Cavs and help out in a couple eastern divisions. I also do the Fantasy Sports section so I haven't had much internet time for anything else.

What's up with Parker not getting an extension? He's asking for market value. Could it be because he's not a good enough scorer and Brent Barry can handle most PG duties?

He's asking for $68M and the Spurs want to give him $64M. The negotiations aren't dead until Sunday.

Are you implying that Barry could fill the role of point guard full-time? :lol

On offense, Barry has ran the 1 for Seattle for years. On defense, he'd obviously need help.

What's up with this Ulrih kid? I heard he's nice. Maybe thats a factor. Because 4 mil over 7 years seems like splitting hairs.

Udrih's good, but a china doll. That's not really a factor. The Spurs set a limit on how much they want to Parker and so far they are sticking to it. It's a risk for both sides with the pending changes in the CBA. It might still be hammered out by Sunday.

Well, do we know that Parker is holding his business-partner Fleisher from doing the deal, or vice versa? or are they both in agreement not to do it?

What's Fleisher's %age take on the $4M difference, 68 - 64?

They are both in it but the last time I checked, Parker is the boss so it's Parker. The bigger question though is why are the Spurs holding out on Parker? Don't they feel like Parker is worth it?

Well Fleischer works for Parker. So ultimately it's Parker's decision to hold out or sign. I don't know what Fleischer's percentage is -- 10 percent?

Anyway, this is all covered in several other threads. It's not a matter of just $4M to the Spurs. That increase could put them in luxury tax territory, and there's several other factors. If the Spurs were offering $68M, then Parker/Fleischer would probably be asking for $72M. You have to set a limit somewhere -- apparently the Spurs set there's at $64M.
