View Full Version : Nazr's First Start As a Piston

16 points, 8 boards, 4 steals, 2 blocks tonight for Detroit. Yeah, it's pre-season, but if Malik ever had a game like this in NY half the board would be going nuts, even if it came from an intra-squad scrimmage..

So much for old man Dale Davis beating him out :lol

Not really impressed...Shaq only played 17 minutes..I'm not saying that Nazr won't be a good player for Detroit, but its one preseason game.

Nazr has a pattern of starting out well and causing people to get their hopes up, and then he disappoints and moves onto yet another team.

Just wait until he starts eating he is going to be a nice pick up for The Pistons.

I meant that seriously. Knicks fans warned Spurs fans and Spurs fans have warned Pistons fans. He even lost his starting job after a season on an awful Hawks team and got traded.

Not to get too excited too soon, however it's quite possible Nazr could out-produce both Elson and Oberto this season.

Don't tell me he's learned how to catch!? :lol

For mine, his terrible hands, pump-pump-pump-pump fakes (remember how many times he was blocked by the Pistons in the 2005 Finals? Eugggh), and lack of a clue on how to play weakside help D made him excruciating to watch. I'm glad we re-tooled for half the price. That said, he did help us to the 05 ring, so thanks for that.

Let's revisit this thread in January, then again in April. My prediction - he'll not be putting up numbers like that regularly.

We shall see.

All I know is Elson better "raise his game" to a career level. Run the floor, get some cheap baskets and put backs.

The first time I saw him do that shit I laughed my ass off! And he would always get his shit blocked! LOL

Nazr was responsible for a lot of regular season wins for the spurs last year. I think he's underrated here and will be missed.

16 points, 8 boards, 4 steals, 2 blocks tonight for Detroit.

Preseason means so much, too. Last year for the 2-8 preseason Spurs, Melvin had a game with 18 and 5 and Beno had a game with 20 and Van Exel had a game with 10 in 16 mins.

I hope Nazr does well in Detroit. He really helped in the 2005 playoff run. He mave have had a lousy playoff run last year but I still like the like guy.

I just hope he proves all the haters and wrong and has a big season. I'm not putting any money on it though.

He did do that once when Shaq and some other dude were on him under the basket, and I was like, 'what the hell...?' And then he somehow manages to get it to go with an and-one because Shaq fouled him.
He did fairly well in his preseason debut as a piston. Either way, I'm just glad the pistons have a center who can frickin' make his freethrows!!

Why is nobody posting Rasho's preseason stats? Perhaps it has to do with Rasho having a one rebound game as starting center.

Then again, the Spurs will probably see a lot of those this season :depressed

I think he will do fine in Detroit. He might fit better here then he did with his other teams. Remember when Ben Wallace first came to Detroit no one was expecting him to become a 4 time allstar, 4 time DPOY and a champion etc. The same thing could have with Nazr. Well not saying he could win 4 DPOY or anything but he might end up being better then anyone expected.

Hmmmm... maybe 8/6. Remeber, he's playing beside Sheed and a reinvigorated Antonio McDyess (who is a Spur killer too). They will mop up a lot of rebounds. You may be right tho...

Nazr's stats will be better, because Flip will give him more, and more consistent, playing time. He won't be getting yanked for not being in defensive position.

Exactly, we've lost out on some great offseason opportunities because we had to locate a desperate needed tall guy(s).

:lol at Rasho. I always thought Rasho was a scrub. Nazr though can help a team as he's proven in some regular season games last year. Maybe inconsistent but he is capable of getting it done in Detroit.

I think Nazr will do a decent job for Detroit. Except, he always seemed like he was missing something. He showed flashes of a good game the year before, and in the regular season this year he had some pretty legitimately good games.
But his butterfingers would snap you back to reality as in, "yeah, this guy isn't gonna get any better. Upgrade timeee..."

...and yet I'm still waiting for that upgrade.

My thoughts exactly. Stone hands and pump fakes aside, I don't see how the Spurs are better off this year at the 5 spot than they were last year.

Granted the Spurs are better off financially, but certainly not from a sheer production standpoint - unless of course, Timmy moves to the 5 spot full time.

I can only hope Elson/Oberto/Butler make me eat my words
